In The Waiting Line - Zero7
You can hear it on the Garden State soundtrack, when Large takes E and the party moves around him really quickly..

Billie Jean - Michael Jackson . . . . well, its true. Listen to that once and you're a fan of his right up until the molestation thing.
Amarillo By Morning - George Strait.
The Four Seasons - Vivaldi. Slap your earphones on with that running and push off the summit at Lake Louise on a sunny day for a wow experience.

Just listened to it. Good stuff. If you like that you should listen to 'New Slang' by 'the Shins', you will be suprised what the 'young punks' are listening too these days. [/b][/quote]
Man. I love The Shins. I'm not exactly "the hippest" cat when it comes to music, I generally like retro stuff but The Shins is a new band that I really like.
First heard new New Slang on an eppy of "Scrubs" and bought the CD the next day. Good from start to finish.

When it comes to classical music the song that got me interested would have to be Pachelbel - Cannon in D Major. I have found myself actually purchasing some of the CDs and have actually purchased some tickets for the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra (which are not cheap by the way). And it really was all thanks to that one piece.

Gotta love The Shins. I first heard it when I clicked on a link in someones sig titled "Best Song Ever" or something like that. I was shocked at how good the song was, and I started searching on the net to find out where this newslang.mp3 came from. It was probably you Fotze?
Anyways, I picked up that cd the next day. Can't get enough of it. Anyone know other groups that are similar?

I'm not the hippest cat in the world either, but there are a few songs lately that have turned me onto some bands.............
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out..................great song, they played a bit on the opening act at the Grammys.
Modest Mouse - Float On...........great beat, pretty relaxing song.
The Arcade Fire - Rebellion (Lies) - another great beat, good drum beat.
I also like The Shins.........a lot of mellow stuff, but pretty good.
I know a lot of this stuff is old hat to the college crowd, but I'm a little older.......it takes me a little longer

Name ONE song that if someone listens to they will become a fan of the band/group.
I have to say
Requiem for a Dream: OST, Clint Mansell & Kronos Quartet
Listen to this song and you will be amazed how you can like classical music.

Yes!... both versions of Clint Mansell's Lux Aeterna (Requiem for a Dream) are positively fantastic

The entire Garden State soundtrack is pretty amazing. Fair by Remy Zero is awesome to - but apparently Remy Zero is no longer together so it's hard to find much of their stuff.

What's with the Postal Service cover on Garden State? The soundtrack is good but IMO that song was butchered.

What's funnier, is TPS version of the song is what you hear on the trailers!

Bubble Toes - Jack Johnson (heard his album on in HMV and bought both cd's, very good stuff if you like relaxing hawaiian kind of stuff)
I'll Do Anything - Jason Mraz (although I must warn you I haven't liked most of his other stuff)
In The Sun - Joseph Arthur (first heard this as the music to the bonus ending of The Bourne Identity, have been amazed how often I see his stuff in movie credits)
Under The Tracks - Creeper Lagoon (to be honest I haven't heard any other songs by them but I have been looking for the album since hearing this song)
Hope you guys like some of these... and if you haven't listened to Counting Crows lately then get on it!
