Question Direct Energy / Enmax "deposit"

Last summer we moved out to the suburbs, and quickly realized that wasn't a good idea. We have now moved downtown. There was a 1 month break between places. We had Direct Energy at the old place and canceled the service. We paid a deposit - is that refundable or can it be applied as a credit? The account was only open for 6 months.

I told them to do a credit check then didn't need a deposit...

You should get it back. We had ours refunded within about a year. We were still customers, mind you.

Deposit is refundable, she's all yours. We had our Direct Energy one applied to our final bill when we switched to easymax after like 3 months with DE.

You'll get it back. The depost is in lieu of a credit check. If you paid all your bills you should get the full amount (less if you had it run into the next period a bit).

The deposit had a good fixed interest rate return and I asked the lady if I could pay extra on the deposit and she told me no.

Don't you get that deposit back a year after you sign up?
