I want to be the next Governor General of Canada
Does anyone know how I could apply for this position?
This is the only requirement I could find "All persons whose names are put forward to the Queen for approval must first undergo background checks by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service."
So how do I get my name to the Queen?
I've done a little research, and it looks like a new Governor General will be chosen either late this year or early next year and it will be an anglophone this time (alternates with a francophone).

She had to be the worst Governor General in the longest time. So glad she's out.

So the fact that I'm a white male may be a problem. The current Governor General used to be a separatist as well... my background is pretty plain... nothing controversial in my past.

Forgive my ignorance, but what would a "good" governer general do for us? Is it not just an outdated position?

It's because of her sentiment that parliamentarians are forced to chow down on seal when they eat in the parliamentary dining room.
I'd imagine there are a ton of MP sightings at the nearby McDonald's during lunch hour.

I would push for more holidays throughout the year and a seventh Canadian team in the NHL! Also, I would travel to many countries and I would tell them that Canada is a nice country to live in!

Be a good Canadian spokesperson and try to follow precedent when it comes to the official part of the job, both of which IMO she did not do a good job of.

That reminds of a Maggie Trudeau story. She had food poisoning once. Apparently she ate some meat that had been hanging for 50-some years. Baddaboom.

I'm just holding out hope that when Elizabeth dies we sever our ties from that monarchy.
