The Panthers have bought out Bret Maclean - but he is not available as a free agent until the summer.

This is the case with players bought out at this time of the year.

Yeah, it is buy out season as teams try to get out of some of these bad one way contracts. Just a reminder that the buyout calculator has a programming glitch that doesn't do the math correctly so we need to double check all buyouts. Keep that in mind when you buy a guy out and than it looks like you have more cap left than you thought.
