Default Looking for a beer...

So I was recently travelling about Germany and developed a taste for Hefeweizen beer.

So I'm wondering if anyone knows of anywhere in Calgary that sells Schoffer Hefeweizen (Import) or Denisons Weissbier (local Canadian Company).

CP would know this. Hell, I should just PM Locke and be done with it.

While I despise all Hefeweizen, a quick call to your local liquor store should solve this issue. Just call a big one, if they don't have it they'll order it for you.

Try Kensington wine market as they have a pretty good beer selection there as well. As for buying retail, Kawa espresso bar on 8st and 13/14ave have a Hacker-Pschorr Hefeweizen I believe, that you can enjoy there. Not sure if this is totally helpful. Good luck, tell us where you find it!

Try Willow Park Wines and Spirits.

I keep seeing Hefeweissen at the Garisson Safeway Liquor Store.

CO-OP Liquor Store downtown also has a pretty good selection - but best in the city for import beers would be Willow Park.

You can try Crowfoot Liquor Store as well. I would call them first and save yourself a trip.

Never heard of Denisons, but if its Canadian you might be able to order it in.

The Schoffer though is occasionally available through Co-Op, now, they bring it in every now and again but no guarantees that its always there. They should be able to order it though. Same for Willowpark, they can typically order anything you want providing that the quantities are big enough to make a profit.

Don't know where to get Schoffer (and if you did find it, chances are it's 4 months old and won't come near what you had on your travels).

Granville Island does a nice one though not super authentic. I've never had it from a bottle, but it might fit the bill. Here's the url, row 2 centre: http://gib.ca/local-flavours.php

Tree brewing out of Kelowna makes a pretty good Hefeweizen.

You can thank me for it being sold out, though I think they'll start brewing it again soon in time for summer.

The first time my dad had a Hefeweizen, he thought it had gone skunky and wanted to take it back. Silly English man...

Actually I was in Willow Park by Westbrook yesterday searching and managed to stumble upon it. Didn't buy any though, recommend it?

Little surprised with regards to Schoffer - by far the most popular Hefeweizen I saw in Berlin/Frankfurt, yet nowhere to be found here. Hell, most of the German stuff here seems to be rejects from the motherland aside from Erdinger.

I bought the Tree multipack last summer on a whim and the Hefeweizen was included. I'd been drinking beer all afternoon and by dark wasnt even looking at what I was grabbing. I remember setting one particular bottle aside to decipher it the next day a little better. It was the Hefeweizen. I spent the rest of the summer drinking those, Thirsty Beavers, and Cuthroats. Kelowna Pil is great too. Tree beer rocks.

So yes, I definitely recommend Tree Hefeweizen.

On a side note, has anyone seen a beer called Cristal in an imports section anywhere? It's Cuban, I had it when I was down there in the summer. It's as tasty as it is hard to find.

Remind me on monday, I have a friend that manages a liquor store, sometimes he can get stuff but I'll have to wait to ask him.
