Yeah, pretty pumped for the draft tonight. There should be a lot of wheeling and dealing between the end of first round and the start of the second round. It will be interesting to see what plays out.

I think the first 3 picks will be Bradford, Suh, and McCoy. Than I'm pretty sure Russel Okung will go next, but after that even I'm not sure what the Chiefs will do.

Isn't this the first year in a long time where the #1 overall pick isn't signed by this time?

Although it wouldn't shock me to hear that the deal is in place, but the NFL is telling the Rams to keep it under raps so there's more suspense for their new weekday draft day.

Go to hockey.

It isn't like you will miss the draft pick of the year. 98% of tonight will be analysis of analysis which can be interesting but isn't worth missing a playoff game.

Yeah especially when you consider the 15 minute timeslot each team gets to pick. An all night event really has maybe 20-30 minutes of actual content (especially if you follow college football and already know what all these players are about).

That was reduced to 10 minutes last year...and the thing still takes forever at times.

Whatever the chiefs do could effect the rest of the draft through to 20 or so. Should be interesting. The teams in 10-12 are rumoured to be wanting out of the spot, should make for some excitement and could also shake things up depending on who moves up.

What are your thoughts on the pack's pick Transplant?

CB, S, OLB, OT? all are needs, but SS and OLB might be more luxury picks then CB and OT.

Obviously the O-line is the greatest need in the future...but with both Clifton and Tauscher re-signed, they can take one or two of them in later rounds when the elite guys are long gone and don't need them to start right away.

Next biggest need IMO is both CB and safety help, and I am praying that one of Jackson/Haden/Wilson/Thomas/Mays fall that far...and they have had remarkable luck having those scenarios happen just like that the last few years. And I dont care which one of those guys it is, as the CB position is really tenuous at best this year with Woodson a year older and harris coming off major knee surgery. At S I love Collins but I am no fan of Bigby's...and I dont understand the love he gets at all. Big hitter but thats about it, and a guy they have to upgrade on at some point.

After that it would be one more OLB that can pass rush after Kampmans departure, and a RB that can push Grant/Jackson. They also absolutely have to repair the punting game....but they are addressing that through FA.

So I see them drafting

2 OL (LG and a LT)
2 DB's (any combo of S and CB)
1 DL (not a nose tackle)
1 RB
1 LB (Pass Rusher)
1 QB (Only 2 on the roster right now but I have a feeling there will be one found in FA as well)

I think I am more excited for the 2nd round then the 1st, this is a really deep draft.

Day two with rounds 2 and 3 really promises to be exciting because I think we'll see a lot of trades. Depending on team needs, and which positions are still left in good supply I think we'll see a fair bit of movement to move up and get players they want. They figure this format is going to help out teams who have drafted poorly in the past because rather than panic with the time constraints in round two and get worked over by the really smart organizations they have time to reset their board and prepare to start fresh the next day.

I am always amazed by how much dis-information goes on before the draft.

It is kind of fun. Do the Niners really want Clausen, or are they trying to entice a team take Clausen before them and perhaps leave the Niners true target on the board?

Apparently there are a number of rumours of teams wanting to jump to spots 9-12.

The game within the game.

Bobble...as Niners fan, what would you think of them dealing the 13th to Pittsburgh for Roethlisberger?

Man, I really hope the Eagles can trade up for either Thomas or Berry. I'd settle for Thomas but I REALLY want Berry.

That and Cleveland at #7 makes the most sense. However, I don't think we'll see anything done until the Chiefs show their hand.

Totally agreed on Bigby, he gets abused in coverage. Regardless of whether bigby comes back or not, depth at the position is a concern after what we saw last year

They need to get another OLB, jones is prefectly suited for the back-up, great value for a 7th rounder, but not someone who demands the respect on the other team's gameplan.

I think one of the biggest questions with getting someone at the OL, either a G or LT, is what do you see lang projected as? Is he a guard, or is he a T?

Its hard to judge when they will pick the DB, because of Lee, TT might give it one more year before using a 2nd rounder or higher for a DB. I can see a 3rd rounder used on CB/returner.

More help is needed at DE, which can probably be addressed with a 5-6 rounder.

All in all, i think they target:

1. OLB/OL (if one of the top 2 CB's drops, i dont know if they can pass it up, and they trade up in the 2nd round for an OLB that drops)
2. S/CB
3. CB/RB/S
4. CB/OL
5. QB/OL
6. DE
7. BPA
