Default FYI: Tim Hortons Cup Sizes are changing Jan 23, 2012!

http://www.newswire.ca/en/story/9057...e-coffee-lover

Quote:
Tim Hortons announced it will be brewing its biggest cup yet, with this month's introduction of a brand new extra large cup. Beginning January 23rd, the new cup will offer coffee lovers across Canada a premium quality, extra large coffee at a value price.

To accommodate the brand new cup, the names of the other hot cup sizes have shifted: the original small is now extra small, the medium is now small and so forth. The change in names of the hot cup sizes will apply to all hot beverages - guests will still receive the same amount of coffee for the same price, only the name of the size has changed.

But the donuts are staying the same size right? How long till someone complains that they are just trying to confuse us and thus it is a cash grab?

Why wouldn't they have just made a "jumbo" or something... oh wait, to make more off the people that normally order a large, will now be getting a bigger cup, therefore paying more...

Yes! Down with corporate greed! I mean they are hardly even telling us they are changing so we'll be confused! All they've done is press releases and signs all over their stores. Who cares if they are trying to have comparable sizes to other coffee chains? Don't make changes that might make you more money!

Tim Horton's cup sizes were always way off compared to everywhere else. If anything more people are going to go back to ordering medium and larges instead of larges and XL's.

Instead of "extra small" they should have named the smallest one "child sized" and watch hilarity ensue.

Have they introduced sleeves for the cups yet? If not, not interested.

I wish they put a little more focus on upgrading the quality of their product, and not the quantity.

I was pretty amazed that when i walked into one of these for the first time in years, they didn't have lattes on the menu. Not sure if that's normal to all locations or not, but I thought those things were pretty standard to all coffee shops by now (I mean hell, McDonalds has latte's now).

Considering that the old small size is about the size of a dixie cup, I think the new sizes are more appropriate.

Why bother?

Tim Hortons is to coffee shops what the Leafs are to hockey. It doesn't matter how poor your product is - people will continue to buy it because it's the Canadiana thing to do...

It would be a brilliant marketing ploy to slowly work out their XS sized cups.

^ They've just started doing lattes (and espressos, I believe). This is all within the last few weeks (months?).

My Tim Horton's intake has suffered recently because my office bought a Keurig machine and is actually paying for the coffee too. So now I just wait until I get to work and start chugging it back.

I've always likes that their sizes were smaller. Everyone else's cups are too big IMO, no need for everything to get Texas sized.

Please tell me which store you are able to get a hot cup of Tim's coffee from? I'm interested to see if it tastes better than the luke warm water filtered through a dirty sock they normally serve me.

They should have left the cup size naming convention the same and made the new one the "Texas-sized".
