Longest Scab You've Had?
I've had this scab on my right hand for over two years now. I just keep picking it, and even when it comes close to healing it seems to always come back uglier than ever.
So any interesting scab stories out there?

I was thinking length of scab, like 12 inch scab running down your shin from a skateboard accident.
Not how long you've had it... That's nasty.

Yeah, dude, I'm no doctor, but I'm pretty sure scabs that stick around for 2 years are called Herpes.

I'd be fine with skipping the pics and just sticking with the cancerous herpes diagnosis.

I shaved the skin off the outside of my right leg, from calf to knee, falling while in shorts and roller-blades on a paved rink, shooting a ball around with a hockey stick. I didn't bother getting it treated initially but then was close to vomiting at work so finally went to the doctor.
In your case, a doctor would probably give you some steroid based cream so that it heals faster AND stops tempting you with itching. Better give up and go see a doc. Right now, the scab is winning.

The scab has been winning over this guy for 2 years... the doctor should have seen this a long long long time ago.
I've never had scabs for longer than month...MAYBE 2 if I really got shredded.

I tore some chest muscles doing the exact same thing. No scabs though. I stepped on the ball and came to an abrupt stop when my should hit the pavement.

I too lack the ability to stop picking at my scabs, and I've been known to have scabs for a long time, but 2 years? Wow. That must be one fun scab to pick!
I've got some noticeable scars on my arms and legs from scabs I couldn't leave alone. My wife has found some scar healing strips for me to try. I've only started using them two days ago so I can't comment too much on them yet. I'm making an effort leave them alone but I fail.

I get a foot long scab when an artillary simulator blew up two feet away from me and burned off a bunch of the skin on my arm.
I got another one that went all the say down the side of my leg when I was rollerblading down a hill came around a corner and a couple of kids were sitting in the path and I bailed onto the gravel sides to avoid hitting them.
I had a really nasty one on my hand when my sister stabbed me with a old railroad spike during an argument.
I had a 4 inch rip in my head when I was about three when I came running around the corner in our house and ran into my mom who was carrying a armfull of her best dishes and I shattered them with my head.

What your wife doesn't dig scars, she's an antiwoman. Rene Russo would be displeased.

My brother had a really nasty one in Junior High. It was in Fish Creek and he basically slid down an entire dirt cliff/hill on one of his shins (obviously not on purpose). It tore almost all of the skin off a 1 foot section of his shin, and it took almost a year for it to heal properly. It required lots of antibiotics, pain killers, and re-bandaging.
A word from the wise: Never pick your scabs. I admit sometimes it's hard to resist, but when you pick them, they always heal more slowly and leave a bigger scar.

I have a scar on my knee from falling off my bike at the dirthills. Before we were dating she asked what happened, and I told her that I was playing hockey and got hauled down from behind and tore up my knee and the scar was remnants of career ending surgery. She asked if I was good and I told her that I was the #1 pick at the bantam draft and was expected to carry some WHL team from the cellar to the top. Then I got called away and didn't get to finish my story and it wasn't until after we were dating that she learned the truth. As a result she hates to see scars on me.
