Default IPhone Help

When I plug my Iphone into my computer it does not recognize it. I cannot access it through my computer and ITunes does not see it either.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks

USB cord will charge it from the computer. I just can't interact with it from the computer.

Thanks Yeah_Baby, that was really helpful....

Is iTunes up to date? I remember having similar problems with an iPod, updating iTunes cleared it right up.

You're very welcome. Do you want your extension cords back? I think I'm finally done with them.

Cleary you do not know how to use the extension cord joke in the appropriate manner. Good try though.

Try doing a full reboot on the iPhone. Hold the "home" button and the "sleep/wake" button on the top right until the unit turns itself off. (you will probably see the "slide to turn off" screen pop up, ignore that and keep holding the buttons down.) It might restart itself but if it does not then hold the "sleep/wake" button until you see the apple logo on the screen. It might take a few minutes but don't worry, the phone is doing it's thing.

This happens to me once in awhile, and a restart of my computer usually solves the problem.

Tried both rebooting computer and Roast Beef's suggestions and still nothing.

Ok my wife just got home and I tried her USB cord and it works. So the cord is F'd. Cord will charge the phone but wont connect it to the computer.

I'd wager that the fine (if not pretentious) folks down at the Apple Store would exchange that faulty cord free of charge.
I exchanged my iphone last year a few weeks after the one year period with out problems. At the same time, I traded in my grubby earphones with no trouble at all.
