Colorado shakes up Roster before Trade Deadline
Denver, CO - GM Swayze shook up the teams forwards tonight by pulling of a trade for some youth. We would like to welcome Robert Nilsson, Ryan Shannon and James Wyman.
"We made this deal for a few reasons. 1 - We knew going into next year that our salary we have invested on our blue line was simple too much so we needed to shed some salary there. 2 - Our 4th line was just killing us offensively. We expected a little more offense from our 4th line, it was just pathetic. 3 - The potential is greater with the guys coming in then the guys going out. Adams will never be more then a 4th line guy, Ference is a bottom pairing d-man, #4 at best, and Kopecky was a marginal 3rd line player - With the additions of Pyatt and the great season of Goc, we felt Kopecky was the odd man out." said GM Swayze about the late night trade.
Nilsson has a lot more potential to go up the depth chart, same with Shannon and this gives us a lot more flexibility with lines to get guys in the right spot. I want to thank Kris for the really easy deal.
"James Wyman is a up and comer player, hes played a few games with Montreal this season and has some really decent numbers in the AHL. We feel Robert Nilsson has a lot of potential, with the NHL trade deadline coming up we are hoping to see Nilsson on a different team where he is able to flourish like all former Oilers do. We have watched quite a few Ottawa games this season and we really liked what we saw in Ryan Shannon, he has potential to be a top 6 forward but wont hurt the team defensively playing in the bottom 6." said GM Swayze about the new guys coming in.
