Thumbs up It's official: A pickle is more popular than Nickleback

Not strictly another Nickelback bashing thread but funny nonetheless.

A group on Facebook called "Can this pickle get more fans than Nickleback?" hit its goal over the weekend, notching up 1.4 million fans. The post-grunge band Nickelback had 1.38 million fans on Facebook but this number has since topped 1.4 million.

It's almost impossible to be friends with someone that likes Nickleback. A non-starter.

For some reason the first thing I thought of was this line:

"Rob Schneider is....a carrot!"

My gripe with Nickleback isn't with their lack of talent, for some unknown reason Koeger does actually have a small amount. He can actually construct melodies with monkey simple guitar that appeals to the average non music fan.

Most people don't care that much about music to search out the good stuff, that's what Nickleback is for.

It's just the fact that the vocal delivery is so hack, they are so unoriginal and have nothing of substance. That's why I hate them.

I don't really hate them because they're a crap band, I hate them because they're a crpa band who has convinced themselves they are the greatest band of all time.

I'm not a Nickleback fan. I'll take'em or leave'em. You sir, are a royal snob. A class A jerk when it comes to music. Go be a super genius when it comes to music but leave the stupid people (as you imply) alone when it comes to what they like.

My gripe with Nickelback haters is that they keep claiming this. Yes, they sound like a lot of other bands on the radio, but how do you think those other bands got radio play? By soundling like Nickelback. Yes it is musically simple, but it's what is popular.

Name me the bands that Nickelback sound like. I'd say it's reverse, that they sound like Nickelback. So that makes Nickelback the original. Take or leave it, but they are the defining pop-rock band of the the past decade.

I don't disagree with anything that you've said, and that's exactly what is wrong with popular music.

BTW - I saw a guy yesterday working on a red minivan in Lynnview. Was that you?

Not saying it's good or anything... just saying that a lot of critical points people use to bash Nickelback are actually false. If people don't like their music, I don't understand why they have to bash it- just man up and say "I don't like it because I just don't, I don't need a god damn reason."

The same reason is why I don't like Coldplay. I just don't! (Also, I find their music boring).

I wish... I don't have a red van anymore. In fact, I only had it for a short while after making my nickname. That said, if I had one, I'd be working on it in Lynnview. Probably blasting Nickelback from the stereo.

I once heard Coldplay referred to as "music for bed wetters" and now I laugh every time I hear one of their songs. I'm not particularly fond of Coldplay either as I find it quite boring.

Wouldnt the Foo Fighters be the top pop/rock band of this last generation? Nickleback is just a good story out of small town Alberta.

Nickleback seems to be huge amongst the now Mom's that were once pseudo headbangers of the early 80's, probably Def Leopard fans back then?

Being a fan of something on facebook is worse than Nickleback.

People will rip on Facebook......until it "proves" something they want to believe. Then Facebook is held up as proving a point. At least until they want to act cool by hating it again.

In terms of popular success, I don't know if that's true. Could be a good point. But Nickelback gets played more... whether that's because of CanCon rules or not, I don't know. (IMO, CanCon is th eonly reason OLP and Billy Talent ever get radio time).

Musically, I think Foo Fighters are awesome.
