Default Need a new gaming keyboard/mouse set up

My current mouse is just your simple run of the mill logitech wheel mouse. The left button double clicks on single clicks and the mouse wheel no longer pushes in properly (this is my vent key), so I need a new one.

My keyboard is just a basic 14 dollar piece that is missing a few keys from various nerd rages over the years. I decided that it is finally time to treat myself to a nice gaming set up.

I am looking to spend around $100 total on the combination of Mouse/Keyboard. They don't have to come in a package. I prefer logitech brand but I am not 100% set on it, whatever is a good deal works for me.

I play mostly MMO's like WOW and DAoC, I do enjoy FPS like Counterstrike though as well. I play a few RTS games but that is about it.

What keyboard/mouse set up do you game with? What would you suggest?

I would like to upgrade to a laser mouse, cordless, and the keyboard should not be cordless since it never leaves my computer desk and would just be a waste of batteries. Looking for multiple buttons on the mouse I can keybind to important spells/abilities.

Logitech makes a solid mouse but I'd never go wireless. I use a slightly older model of that mouse and it's pretty good but lags from time to time. If you can find the same one but wired, it's a very good mouse.

Razer also makes some good stuff but your not going to find a mouse/keyboard combo for under $100.

That is a notebook mouse.

If you are sitting at a desk get a corded mouse. I have the G9 mouse which is awesome albeit expensive. But I had gotten frustrated with cordless mice that got flaky after a while.

For keyboards I have the Saitek Eclipse and after about 4 years of heavy use it is starting to have issues. But 4 years of heavy WASD use and they still perform well.

I use this set-up for WoW.

Logitech G15 Keyboard (the old one with 18 G keys)

This keyboard has worked flawlessly for me so far (4 years I think). Literally the only problem I've had is the paint is wearing off my ASDW keys. It's doesn't affect anything though. As far as I know the Space bar is reinforced for extreme mashing. Mine is still working like it was on day 1.

Logitech MX Revolution Wireless

This mouse has worked really well for me. It has the two scroll wheels. The top scroll wheel has a fast scroll option where if you click it down and then flick it, it spins super fast. I have abilities hot-keyed to the two side buttons and the top button. It's very comfortable for long gaming sessions (ICC Heroic raids). I also hotkeyed abilities to the scroll wheel (Healthstone for scroll up and Barkskin for scroll down).

The only issue with this mouse, and it's very minor, is if I have my TV remote in between the mouse and the receiver it can lag the mouse movements. It's very easy to fix this issue.

Overall I've always been happy with Logitech products for gaming.

Edit: The mouse has a Li-ion battery instead of AA. Even after a day of heavy use it still has 2/3 bars left. I just throw it on the charger every night when I shut my computer down.

For keyboards i have this:

Can control volume from the keyboard and it has a cool display to show songs what are playing etc. Can skip tracks blah blah

For mice i'm a little out of the loop. I have a microsoft habu but don't really play shooters these days. But this one here looks cool:

Hrmm ya the 100 bucks is going out the window it seems.. I really like that G11/15/19 board.

Pretty big price difference between the models, seems like G11 is the same without the display screen, and the G19 is an updated version with a few more features.

I think that right now the G15 is the best bang for your buck as far as I can tell.. wonder how long until that G19 drops in price though.

The mouse needs to be replaced pretty much yesterday though so.. that can't wait. I really like that gaming mouse Logitech has the G9, I am a huge fan of logitech... but how do you think it compares to this razer mouse:

The revolution still has my eye as well.. I could bind two keys to each wheel mouse which makes it technically the same amount of buttons as the G500..

New egg has the set of G15/G500 for about 173 Canadian before taxes.. so far that is the best I can find thanks to pricebat.ca...

For the love of god, do not use the VX revolution as a gaming mouse. It's only 800 dpi, and if you play any kind of shooter, will regret your purchase. It's a great laptop mouse, but not for gaming. I believe the MX revolution is also 800 dpi, and you will notice it doesn't perform as well as a wired mouse such as the G5 or G500, which offer 400 - 2000 dpi and 200 - 5700 dpi respectively.

I use a Logitech G5 Mouse and a G15 keyboard - works like a charm. I picked up the keyboard for an amazing price of $54.99 from NCIX and the mouse was also the same price.

+1 I have this mouse too. Rocks!

Sounds like you messed up your battery from charging it every day though... I use my MX heavily and only throw it on the charger every 3 weeks or so.

Wireless mice may work ok for WoW type games, but I have yet to use a wireless mouse in a FPS that doesn't drive me crazy.

Go wired, I have a G9 I got for Christmas, but a G5 or even an MX518 are good too.
