Default The LiveCity Venues - Are the lineups ridiculous ?

Just from what I can see on TV, the crowds look massive. For the decent bands at night, how early do you have to get there?

I wanted to go to Deadmau5 tonight at Livecity Yaletown but people were lining up before 11am.....and the show was at 9pm. LOL....they didnt let anyone in after 5pm. I don't think they are all that popular but don't expect to get a good view or even let in if you show up too late.

Wow. Not much point in heading to any LiveCity venues after watching the day's events then.

Maybe O-zone would be a better choice.

Infamous: Deadmau5 is just one guy, electronic/dj. Wears a giant mouse costume. Would have loved to see him, but could catch him in Calgary for $30 without the hassle.

Once you figure out some of his songs, play them as the intro after commercials on some of your shows!!

Yeah I know, I meant they as in the other LiveCity shows won't be as popular as Deadmau5.

I waited in line for 90 mins the other night for Buck 65. Once we got inside, there was another line to wait in for another 90 mins.

Deadmau5 kicks a lot of ass, I partied with him when my friends booked him to play Halifax a few years back. Would have loved to go tonight, but knew it was all but pointless.

Ya'll should have went to The Dudes at Alberta House tonight! I watched part of it online and it was unreal as per usual. For their second encore they pulled people up out of the crowd to sing with them...one girl tried to start a strip show, another guy came up and just took his shirt off and did nothing until security told him to get down, then a third dude actually threw down some pretty decent freestyle stuff for just being some random guy in the crowd.

Had I known, I would have tried to be there. I love the dudes. There's so much going on here it's hard to keep track of it all. Plus I was at the curling tonight watching Team Canada beat the evil Danes. Those girls are seriously scary... like the village of the damned girls grew up and started curling.

Looooooouuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!

No, not Luongo.

I'm talking Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Lou Reed.

The founder of the Velvet Underground saved Hal Wilner's Neil Young Project in Vancouver tonight from musical Hindenburgdom with an absolutely kick-ass Helpless. Then his sidekick, West Van resident Elvis Costello, slew the crowd with a great Cowgirl in the Sand and a gloriously rocking version of Cinnamon Girl. Costello and Reed then created a spectacular wall of feedback together to end a great cover of F***in' Up – just wow.

There's some absolutely great stuff going on in this town, on top of all the sports. Tomorrow night I'm taking in Mrs. Lou Reed (Laurie Anderson)'s Delusion.

Oh man, that's hilarious! They were the oddsters that's for sure.

Couple of crowd pics for ya, from around Robson Square tonight:

I think the line for most shows there has been about 1.5 - 2 hours. Deadmau5 was by far the most anticipated and everyone knew it would be near impossible to get in unless you went in the morning.
I might go to Sam Roberts tonight, but figure you'd need to get there by 5-6, and not sure if I want to.

The Livecity facebook page gives a lot of line up updates throughout the day. I find they tend to underestimate, but people are quick to reply and tell you how long the lines actually are. Useful way of knowing what you are heading to.

I think the dudes are back next saturday for something....they are personal friends of mine and were hinting at something secret...

saw the show online, meh not the best performance, they have been playing every night this week as either the dudes/dojo and looked like it.

Alexisonfire would have been sweet. Too bad it only lasted 10 seconds.
