Default Air Canada Question

I'm taking at trip to the Grand Canyon in April. Land in Phoenix, return from Vegas.

Now I was planning on taking the overnight from Vegas back to Ottawa. Purchased my ticket and was all set. Until I got an e-mail on Friday saying that flight has been cancelled. They moved me up to 3pm instead of midnight. I can't make the 3pm flight, so I called reservations and they put me at 8am the following day. They said that they understood the inconvenience of rearranging my travel plans due to their cancellation and that I should keep my receipts of expenses incurred due to the layover and submit them to Air Canada customer relations after the trip is over.

But they didn't mention anything about how much they would cover. Uhm, the MGM Grand Skyloft Penthouse is $3,000 per night.

So I don't know exactly what I should book... what would they cover and what-not. I did put a request into their customer relations but they said that if the question is not urgent it may take 10 days to reply. Anyone ever have a similar situation?

I wouldn't get carried away, just book as though it's coming out of your own pocket. I'm sure any reasonable amount would be reimbursed (say 250-300 range, on the high end?). That's what I would do anyway.

Maybe I'm cynical, but try to get something in writing beforehand from Air Canada that says they're going to reimburse you. Might save you lots of time if Air Canada forgets to put that annotation on your file.

That's what I was thinking, Jimmy. I wish there was a app that would record phone calls on the iPhone for situations like these. Just because the reservations guy said that they would cover, that means nothing at the end of the day. I have no proof that the reservations guy said what I say he said.

Morozee: If *I* was paying, I'd get a $60 room at the Motel 6. I'm a cheap b@stard.
