Default Cortisone Treatments

Due to a kidney problem I have (iga nephropothy) my Nephrologist has recommended going on a 6 month cortisone treatment. He says it will make me fat, weaken my bones, give me acne and make me irritable. It's an optional treatment. Has anyone here done this treatment and if so, what are your recommendations? Would you do it again if you could go back or would you never have done it if you could go back?

My dog was on cortisone for 18 months a few years back and she bulked up like a weight lifter. My mother was also on prednisolone many years back and she acquired the classic 'moon' face during the treatment. Her beautiful face structure did return after the treatment was finished.

did you do a treatment or just get a couple shots? I have gotten just a couple shots and it had no effect.

Everyone I have seen on a prolonged treatment has gained a considerable amount of weight!

Yeah the effects totally depend on whether it is a localized shot or a general treatment. I'm guessing for kidneys it will be a generalized treatment.

Expect it to have in many ways the opposite effect of anabolic steroids. Lower energy levels, fat gain, degeneration of joints, lower sex drive, etc.. etc..

I have been lucky enough to avoid this so far, but I know a number of people who've had to take them. Does not sound pleasant.

My dog was on it too. It fixed up her kidney issues in a jiffy. Other than the fact that she stopped peeing on the carpet we didn't notice any difference at all. She didn't go all pit-bull in terms of size or temperment.

Couple of shots.

I have gained more inches than weight. When I had my first knee surgery I gained like 20 lbs. Second knee surgery I gained like 6 lbs. But since I haven't played since april 09 I haven't gained weight just inches.... I'm still 200-205lb range.
