Body Worlds is coming to Calgary! Cool!
Can they fit this in the science center? or is the new one going to be opened by then. It is suppose to be bigger than the one that went to Edmonton last year.
YUMM. I hope they sell beef jerky as snacks there! hehe

Very cool
I've seen in twice now in 2 different cities
I actually learned more from the specimen section than the body art. The exhibit is organized by body system (circulatory, muscle, respiratory...etc), and being able to hold plasticinated body parts and viewing cross sections of different organs was a very unique experience
There is one disturbing cross section, a young pregnant female was on display and you can see the little fetus

I saw this in Portland a few years ago.
It was one of the coolest exhibits I've ever seen.
When it comes to Calgary, I'll definitely be in line to see it again.

Went here when it was in Edmonton. Pretty sweet. It's pretty expensive for a University student but I think it's worth it to go at least once.

It says in the article that the new science center is open in 2011 and this will be in the current building with some exhibits stored and moved around to make room.

This is very creepy, saw it in Edmonton a year or two ago.
Creepy but well worth seeing. I'll see it in Calgary when it gets here.

Not sure if it will be part of the show there, but I though the exhibit section with all the veins etc was the hi-light of this thing. The Bodies are cool, but the circulatory stuff is just awesome.

One of my friends volunteers there and she said that there is no way the old center can fit this exhibit.
Maybe it'll be outdoors?? haha

One of the newspaper articles on this exhibit mentioned that the Science Centre will be removing every exhibit except for the creative kids museum to make space for it.

Yes....of course, you wouldn't want to close down the "creative kids exibit" when there are hundreds of mangled corpses in the building.
Anyway, I have always wanted to see this, can't wait.

Lol What? Are all the bodies Chinese? I thought they were prisoners or people who wanted to donate their body to a better cause.

I think it was the copycat he saw. They all used executed chinese prisoners but not Body Worlds.
All whole body plastinates exhibited in Body Worlds come from donors who gave informed consent via a unique body donation program. Only adults over eighteen years of age can sign up to the programme.[36] The pre-natal and infant specimens in the exhibitions are obtained from morphological collections previously held by universities and medical institutions.
Bodies from deceased persons who did not give consent – such as deceased hospital patients from Kyrgyzstan[37] and executed prisoners from China – have never been used in a Body Worlds exhibition. In January 2004, the German news magazine Der Spiegel reported that von Hagens had acquired corpses of executed prisoners in China; he countered that he did not know the origin of the bodies, and returned seven disputed cadavers to China [38]. In 2004, von Hagens obtained an injunction against Der Spiegel[3 for making the claims.
