MTBer's what do you ride?
With the recent what do you drive thread I am interested to see what others have in the way of MTBs.
I have both a 2010 Trek FuelEx 8 and 2008 Trek 6000.

I ride an old school 1997 Univega Alpina 505. Double butted steel frame, upgraded from solid forks to the best air-oil Marzocchi you could find that had a 1" steer tube, disc brakes on the front and a Brake Therapy disc conversion for the rear end. High end gripshift shifters and Deore LX or better components throughout. Ti-railed leather Selle Italia saddle, Shimano pedals, etc.
Nothing rides as nicely as a well built steel frame in my opinion, and with a decent cross-country fork on the front, it's an excellent cross-country bike. The frame is what keeps me upgrading the thing. It has thousands upon thousands of kilometers on it now.
That and they just don't paint them in purple anymore!

Don't have any pics and haven't been out in over a year since my uncle crashed and messed up my brakes when I lent it to him but...
'03 Jamis Dakar
Holy crap, I just realized it's an '03. I think my dad bought it for me when I was 14?

Matt Black 2008 Trek 6000 19.5" (identical to yours tussery) with Rockshox Recon race shocks. Had to ditch those awful dart 3's.
Currently at Ridleys getting upgraded to Hydraulic disks from Cable.

1996 Brodie Kinetic (page 16)
Currently outfitted for mostly commuting (headlight, taillight, reflective tape, mirror)
Replaced that Awful Elastomer Rock Shox Fork a long time ago.
Put a new Vbrake on the front with the fork replacement.
Put a new Vbrake on the back last year.
(It didn't have Vbrakes before)
Basically only the frame, handlebars, shifters and wheels are original.
Rode it to work this morning - first time this year.

Gary Fisher Cake for my XC rides, although with slicks it has turned into my city commuter.
Santa Cruz Bullit for DH.
I don't get out on XC rides that much though, I prefer shuttling and screaming downhill to wearing spandex and weezing my way up a mountain.

2000 Rocky Mountain Blizzard. Mostly stock except I took all the SRAM parts off and replaced them with an XT / XTR mix. Can't stand grip shift. Upgraded the RM house brand seatpost to RaceFace, changed out the saddle for a fi'zi:k, and put on ODI lock-on grips.
I'm with sclitheroe - Steel is Real! You just can't beat the feeling of a high end steel frame. I have thousands of miles on this thing and even when it's time for a replacement, I'll probably just buy another Blizzard frame.

Hows that Recon working out for you? I am thinking about putting one on my 6000.

Love em, if you can find one with the Gary Fisher G2 geometry, even better. It will speed up the turn in, yet lengthen the wheelbase for descents. I got mine off of a Fisher Dealer in the states as a brand new "take off" for $225.
Make sure of a couple things though.
Get the air version.
And make sure you get the 80-100mm setup. The 130mm long travels don't work with the bikes geometry.
And as mentioned, if you can find the G2 geometry setup, snap em up, they are hard to find, and make a world of difference.
