Default Janus Academy Spring Gala and Charity Auction - Custom User Titles Available!

Guess it's my turn to ask for some help from the community!

---------------------------------

Hello, we'd like to take a few minutes of your time to talk about our son photon junior's school, Janus Academy. Our son was diagnosed as having Asperger Syndrome, and this year we enrolled him in Janus to begin his school career with a strong foundation in a supportive environment, and so far he loves school and is doing very well.

Janus Academy is a not-for-profit school for children with autism here in Calgary. Each year, 1 in every 167 children are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. With numbers this staggering, we need to do whatever we can to provide these special children with the best support and education. Janus Academy is truly a gift for these amazing children and their parents.

Each year, along with tuition and government contributions, the parents are responsible to source funds by way of fundraising. To meet this year’s operating budget, the parents need to raise nearly $300,000 and we rely heavily on individuals and businesses just like yourself.

Janus Academy holds several fundraisers during each school year, the largest being the Annual Spring Gala Fundraiser, this year being held on April 30, 2011. Each year this is a popular sellout event. It will include dinner, dancing, live entertainment plus a live and silent auction. This year, the goal is to raise $215,000.

Part of the responsibility of the parents is to coordinate the donation of items for the silent auction. Every parent's goal is to bring in 10 items to the auction, each with value of a minimum of $50.

We are asking for your help with this in the form of a donation of an auction item. If you have or work at a business, it could be a gift certificate or voucher from that business. It could be consumer electronics, household related items, event tickets, or anything that would pique your interest in a silent auction. Or if you wish, you could make a cash donation and we will purchase auction items on your behalf.

We hope you can participate. Please contact us directly by PM to arrange for pickup of donations. You can also participate in other ways, including purchasing tickets to the gala from us and becoming a sponsor (you can contact us for more information on sponsorship).

We hope this fundraiser will continue to teach the public to do the same and allow children with autism to be accepted and nurtured. Thank you in advance your support, past and present, and for keeping our vision a reality! We thank you, and the children at Janus thank you.

Yours truly,

Mr. and Mrs. photon

I'm somewhat in touch with the Autism scene in Calgary and knowing a few people who used to work at Janus Academy.

It seems to be a good environment for kids who are diagnosed under the ASD. I'll see if I can find anything to help out.

Bumping this because I forgot to thank Sliver and Puxlut for their generous donations.

Also bumping as the deadline for donations is this week (I forgot), so I wanted to give another opportunity to donate an item (or wants to donate cash and I will purchase something they need).

No worries, and thanks!

Good thing you didn't send it, I haven't been to the post office in forever.

Thanks HOOT got it fine.

I've also offered everyone that's contributed so far a custom user title!

Tickets for the Gala are now available! You can purchase them through me, they are $100 each, and I'm told the event is well worth it. The last gala I went to I got a few great deals at the silent auction.

(Click for more info)

So if you'd like a custom user title (within reason), you can either purchase tickets, or if you just wish to make a small donation I will use that money to purchase silent auction items.
