Police beat the crap out of the wrong man.
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-col...wu-injury.html
Vancouver cops responding to a domestic abuse call, but went into the wrong address.
Not only that, the police chief retracts an earlier statement saying the guy was resisting arrest...
I'm foreseeing some kinda lawsuit!

When I lived there, Vancouver Police had a pretty rough reputation. Mind you, Some of the streets these guys patrol are amongst the worst in North America.
Feel bad for the guy, but accidents happen.

It's not a case of accidents happen, it's police once again doing a lazy job. The chief tried pulling a fast one but caught with his hand in the cookie jar and there's no reason that those involved should be fired.

To be honest, I should have put the "accidents happen" part in green text.
If this were a loved one of mine I would be livid. Frankly, the guy has every right to soak the Vancouver Police Dept. for a healthy sum.

Were their tasers charging in the car or something?
Christ on a cracker...imagine how crazy something like that would be if it happened to you...just kicking back at home, you go to answer the door and a couple of strangers with guns beat the living tar out of you.
On the other hand, I wonder how we'd all feel if the cops went to the correct house and layed a smack down like that on a wife beater.

Yeah, it would be pretty freaky.
On the otherhand, this guy is going to get a nice dollar amount for that. Personally, I'd take an ass beating on that scale for a couple mil.

I would guess 75-100,000 depending on the extent of his injuries.

Yeah, 7+ figure settlements only occur south of the border.

I am not one who likes the American lawsuit way over spilled coffee's and and mice in pickle jars. But I wouldn't for a second think lesser of the guy if he did chase after a couple million in this case. Someone kicks down your door and beats the snot out of you, and you can't even explain yourself since you don't speak english. This is the type of situation where there is a precedence to stick it to the police, and I say that as a huge supporter of what the police do. It was wreckless and they really should pay in this case.

A lot of problems contributed to this.
Vancouver police are said to be kind of tough. The officers who showed up were in plainsclothes and not uniformed or in a cop car so to this guy, it appeared that guys off the street were trying to break into his house and beat him up. The address was correct, but the call came from the renter who lived in the basement of the house that had a separate door in the back.
