Best of the Banff Mountain Film Festival

It's in Calgary this week on it's world tour. Anybody gone yet? Anyone going? I look forward to it every year and will be at the Saturday matinee program. One of my winter highlights every year.

Yep, have been the last 4 years in a row. We usually pick the 'A' program, but this year chose the 'B'.

Overall it was great as always. I kind of felt the base jumping movies we saw the previous 2 years were better than the main feature of this year's 'B' program (a guy who rides a tandem bike over a 2 year span from Alaska to the bottom of South America and gets people to help him along the way). It was still good though.

The one about the world's great free solo rock climber (ie no ropes) climbing Half Dome (2,000 feet) was the highlight for sure. Can't imagine what kind of mental strength you'd have to have to do that.
