Default Walmart or Superstore cheaper for groceries?

The new walmart supercenter thingy opened recently at Deerfoot Mall. Thinking of checking it out tonight for weekly groceries instead of superstore. Anyone have experience with both?

edit: btw, im poor.

I typically find that food items are cheaper at superstore while non food items are cheaper at walmart, but keep your eyes out for weekly specials, they make the difference

I think they're both pretty even, I've been a superstore mark for a while but lately I've been going to safeway a lot. Better bakery, deli and produce.

I think food is cheaper at Superstore and stuff like chairs and coffee makers are cheaper at walmart. However, the PC line is cheaper than the name brand stuff so depends what you're looking for I suppose.

They're both a zoo to go to so I try to go during the day when I'm done classes.

Walmart tends to have cheaper junk food.

I know this all too well.

I've found that some of the more 'expensive' stuff, like cereal is cheaper at WalMart, otherwise go with Superstore. It really just depends on how much effort I want to go to travel for the food.

I shop at wal mart very seldom. The food just seems to me like a scratch and dent deal.

I hate Wal-Mart but damn is it cheap. Most items are pretty close at Superstore, but cereal, milk, junk food, and anything frozen dinner-esque is cheaper at Wal-Mart. Superstore's dairy products are cheaper, but I find their produce a little dodgy sometimes. Safeway is the best place for produce, but you pay out the ass for it.

You shouldn't buy everything at one store. They all have their loss leaders (items they sell below cost to get you in the door) and if you pay attention to flyers and instore special you can stretch your dollar by shopping around. This is really noticable at the better grocery stores (Safeway) where they may have pop on a great deal but you pay double for a can of coffee or toilet paper. Plus I find the produce at Superstore sucks so I like to get it at Safeway/Co-op. But I'm in Moose Jaw, your store may be better.
