You should be able to get used "G" ones for around $30ish Id say, lots of stores are also clearing them out since the "N" one came out a couple months ago. THey were on sale for $89 on boxing day, reg $99.
Just to toss in my 2 cents, I had both G and N Xbox adapters and ended up going with a powerline adapter (internet through your house's power outlets). It ended up being almost as fast as directly running ethernet cable, and my ping (which matters way more for gaming than throughput does) was again on par with a wired connection. Performance with powerline really depends on how direct the connection is between the two plug-ins you're using.
Cost me $110, but I can pull 85Mbps for HD streaming, and my ping is much better than when I was wireless.
