You'd base subscribing or not subscribing to the local newspaper on one sports columnist?

I would. D'oh boy is an idiot. He lost all the little credibility with the bogus "Bettman has a bonus in his contract" story

Sure. Why not?

a. I primarily read the paper for sports
b. The poor journalism of Dowbiggen reflects poorly on the entire paper

I don't know enough about Dowbiggen to comment on his writing one way or the other, but wouldn't a more effective way of voicing displeasure be to send him an e-mail taking him to task for whatever offensive statement he made? I know most of the writers have their email address listed at the end of their columns.

Alternatively, you can simply skip reading his columns. I don't like "Lucky Cow", but I still read the rest of the comics page.

nope. There is nothing more powerful in the world of business than withdrawing your monetary support to a service or product.

Writers like Dowbiggin deliberately try to p*ss people off. He's a contrarian. Sending him an email calling him an idiot will only prove that his articles are earning him readers, thus justifying his contract with the Herald.

The only way to get rid of him is to prove to his bosses that he is costing them money.

If I get a call from them I'll tell them what I think of Dowbiggen and that they would do themselves a lot of good to get Duhachek back as well.

We actually had a subscription several years ago, but cancelled soon after due to the infamous AMES article Dowbiggen wrote.

So he costed there paper at least one subscription, and with his newest articles, there is no way they will ever get us back as long as hes writing for them.

I used to get calls from them all the time until I asked to be put on their do not call list.

Actually I had to ask twice.

Sorry for the late reply, Ive had my wisdom teeth taken out, and it hasn't been a lot of fun.
I can't find the actual article, but I remember Bruce took some Ames comments and twisted them badly, which was obvious for anyone to see. It made it look like Ames hated Tiger, and eventually media everywhere started reporting it. There may be more details to exactly what happened, it was a long while ago.
