In his first trade back as GM of the Jackets, GM Penney has swung his first deal and brought in a goaltender. Heading to Minnesota is young forward Bryan Little and coming back to Columbus is Onderj Pavelac.
"Pavelac is a guy who has really stepped it up this year. He should be able to step in and play some CPHL games for us next season. He will be heading to the Olympics this year and should gain valuable experience" said Penney when asked about the deal.
"I originally drafted Little in the CPHL so it was difficult to let him go but I want to thank Grant for the smooth negotiations via PM".
This is a chance to add more offensive depth this year by trading an asset that we are very deep in. Varlamov is our goalie of the future - so we felt we could flip Pavalec for another good young player in Little. Admitedly Little is having a bad year - but he's a good player.
Good move for both teams. The CBJ needs a starting calibre goalie, or a guy who could potentially start. Minnesota....well they need nothing, but some horrible luck, like about 8 or 9 career ending injuries to their players.

Ya, good move for both sides. Pavelec has been very good in Atlanta this year with Lehtonen's injuries and Little is a solid player going through a sophmore jinx; he'll rebound.
