Default Resume service in Calgary

Has anyone used one that they can recommend? My dad wants me to rewrite his and I don't think I have the ability to write a good resume anymore.

Awesome thanks, I saw them but their website doesn't inspire confidence, but if others have recommended them that's good.

I made a better website from geocities. As for resume writing, I wouldn't know, I was always told NEVER get a pro. to do it because they'll add something in that isn't true or that you wouldn't be able to answer in an interview, then you're done.

Photon you should do it. Your writing is concise, you're articulate and beyond that a resume isn't rocket science.

Agreed. I would go to the local Service Canada office and sit in on a free resume writing class. Then write your own.

Perhaps you need assistance with the format more than anything. Otherwise I strongely suggest you just sit with your dad and capture his work history etc etc and use your own words.

Yes, it is a long and painful exercise. lol

Note: I am an IT guy and I work as an independent contractor. Over the years I have had my resume with a few agencies. Every single agency hates my resume in the beginning and then re-format it to their specification. Agency 1 reformats my resume and then awhile later I sign up with another agency and they hate the reformatted version. My point? There is no standard resume format that everybody will like.

Here is one format example. http://www.sisystems.com/index.cfm?mg=cpcanr.Resume

They are recommended by many on this site but not by me.

I made an appointment and was stood up. I was told if I didn't want to wait around until he showed up it was "my loss". I found this guy to be on of the most arrogant persons I've ever dealt with on any level. I should have known right away when I was talking to him on the phone setting up the appointment. All he did was run down the competition and say how great his skills were. Childish.

Just my experience.

/EDIT/

I ended up re-doing it in about three hours with my wife. It looks and reads way better than it did before. I had it critiqued by some colleagues and they like it.

I'm glad I didn't pay to have someone do it in the end.

Tell your dad to spray his resume with Drakkar Noir.

Chicks love Drakkar Noir.
