Exclamation Best Martial Arts School in Calgary

I'm interested in learning Martial Arts for self-defence but I have no idea which one is the most efficient against a larger or more skilled opponent.

Can anyone here recommend a good school in Calgary fo this?

what ever you do, do NOT go with ACKU Karate

it's a joke of an organization with blackbelts who dont know squat about Karate and it's head sensei is a guy who self promoted himself to a 10th dan blackbelt

Let's narrow it down first
Is there a particular art you are interested? What are you looking for, exercise, self-defense, MMA sport and tournament....etc

I believe he's looking for whichever style is the most efficient form of self-defence against larger and/or more skilled opponents.

Just a vibe I'm picking up. I could be wrong though.

Are you expecting an upcoming attack from a larger, more skilled opponent?

Best defence - don't get into a fight in the first place.

You should make sure you specify in the thread title that you're only interested in hearing from Asians.

You should find yourself an asian restaurant, sit down and take note. That's where all the action's at

Boxing would probably be the best way to 'self-defend' yourself if you were ever to get in a street fight in a short period time. Martial arts such as karate, taekwondo, kung fu, kung fu take years and years of training to actually use in self defense situation.

Krav Maga.

It is pretty much reality based self defense. Lots of situations, quick strikes, cheap shots (eyes, throat, groin), you name it.

However, there is no dojo or instructors in Calgary at this time. They had some "demonstration classes" at the Jewish center, but nothing steady. Of course, this isn't much help to you, but I think that would fit your criteria.

I'd say Muay Thai would be ideal, not boxing. The guys in K-1 are the most feared strikers in the world of martial arts.

There used to be a krav maga school in calgary. Really sad it closed down. The instructors there were very good.
