Fede Alvarez's short film "Ataque de Panico!" (Panic Attack!) featured giant robots invading and destroying Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay.
It is 4 mins 48 seconds long and was made on a budget of $300 (£186).

So far it has had more than 1.5 million views on YouTube.

Just a fantastic short sci-fi video, it's awesome what some people can accomplish on a shoe string budget. I don't know if God Speed You Black Emperor would license their music to this guy, but he sure makes good use of it.

Pretty cool 4 minute clip. Astonishing how it cost $300 with the amount of detail in the CGI, must have taken him a while then.

Also, don't think they would sue the guy for using it. It would go against everything they preach.

That was pretty cool, he is like a combination Bruckheimer & Emmerich in one!

Neat watching places I visited in Montevideo get reduced to rubble.

Offering him 30 mill is a huge gamble. I mean, there's no real story here except that robots invade. Not really original, the only only thing exceptional about the video is the CGI. But really, any studio could come up with that. I'm sure if you said make me a 4 minute video about robots attacking a city, the CGI studio could come up with something similar. It doesn't really show off any writing or any of the other 100 variables you need to make a movie work.

None the less it's cool and will be neat to see if it works out. Maybe more people would get that opportunity they wouldn't otherwise in the future if the project works.
