have you done a google image search for 'snipers hockey'.... that came back with some cool stuff
...just find something already made and change it a bit for yourself... no need to reinvent the wheel

You could do something cool with target/crosshairs . . .

We fathers may appreciate the originality of the female snipers logo. It doesn't really fit within "Age appropriate" guidelines.
Thanks bc-chris for the suggestion I did do that, however we were looking for something unique to us rather then recycling the same old stock logos.
forgot to mention that whoever does step up will receive proper credit on our site by name if they choose as well as a letter of recognition from the team.

Maybe unique was the wrong word to use I guess as we are still just in the early stages of creating a team identity.
Our goals from a coaching perspective are: Educating, Participating, Respect and Fun in no particular order.
Perhaps I should have said original instead of unique.

If you've got any money to throw at the project (doesn't have to be a lot) try hitting up this site: http://www.freelanced.com/ there are a gajillion semi-pro graphic designers on the site and I haven't had any issues with the writing gigs I've picked up from it, made some decent coin too, though I haven't done a lot with it recently.

+1 on the target idea
Say sniper without saying guns, which seems appropriate for hockey and kids

Would the crosshairs idea be too "violence themed" for a kids hockey club? I don't think so but there might be a sentiment out there so thought I'd bring it up.

I'd do it if I had more than MSpaint here at work to use...
But you could just overlay:
on:
(or a similar crosshair on a similar puck/logo)
Not terribly exciting, but gets the job done.

Madman's is nice.
If the crosshair is too "violent" / implying guns... could switch it up for a target/bullseye... which might be less so.
