Default Interpreting Weather - Help

Ok, this sounds incredibly dumb, but I'm trying to figure out whether I should make a trip this weekend (I'm not gonna go if it rains) and it lists 20% chance of showers. Obviously, 20% means 20% but would that mean some scattered showers or usually when it lists 20% via wunderground.com , does anyone know how often it rains? (know, not "duh 1/5")

Trying to figure out if I should get my flight or not

Do they have any satellite or radar info you can check? There's not likely to be much of anything if it's 20%, although possibly overcast at some point.

Where are you going?

Red Rocks, about 15 miles outside of Las Vegas.

KG - thanks, thats actually really useful. Since its 20% - Isolated/slight chance I'll probably go. (if i can find cheap tickets)

Generally as a rule of thumb places outside of main cities tend to be grouped into larger areas and consequently have a higher POP. For an example Airdrie is grouped with the MD of Rockeyview and if you compare the forecast with the City of Calgary it is almost always 10-20% more although the real POP inside the City of Airdrie would be 10-20% less than Calgary since it has a smaller footprint. Time frame is also important where anything beyond 4 days is normally a crap shoot and precipatation that is forecast to arrive a few days earlier or later should also be considered.

Very cool site and a neat little map. Play around with all the layers, cloud cover etc.. it will show you storm cells and what not, very easy to draw conclusions of weather patterns off of this website.

In depth look at the Las Vegas area.

Click on the day and it will give you specifics.
