When do you start decorating for Christmas?
I've always been a proponent of December 1st for pretty much starting everything, although this year I am late for a number of reasons... maybe partly because it didn't feel like winter until about 3 days ago.
When do you:
- Set up your outdoor lights, decorations, etc
- Christmas Tree (bonus question: real or fake?)
- Indoor Decorations
- Put gifts under the tree
Also, I will likely be going to get all this stuff this year, so any ideas as to where to get some great deal would be appreciated!
If you do not celebrate Christmas, perhaps you celebrate "holidays" or "hanukkah", in which case just translate the tradition, yo!

Decorator. But I do admit that I like the outdoor lights that everyone puts up. Good job, y'all!

I'm a single guy so I don't really do any decorating. I think if I did, it would just end up staying up all year.
My mom's not a big decorator, she just gets a small tree and cooks a lot of good food.
My dad's wife forces him to decorate, and they've got younger kids so I guess it's kind of fun for them.

I don't know, something about getting all decorated up really puts me in the Spirit. Christmas in 08 and 07 never really got me in the Spirit at all for some reason, but this year feels different. Probably because I'm not living alone in a tiny basement suite anymore hahaha.
I'm going to go nuts this year. Tree, Outdoor Lights, Wreaths, Banners, Bows, etc etc... I'm pumped!!

When do you:
- Set up your outdoor lights, decorations, etc - Lights stay up all year...they are blue so it's not as bad.
- Christmas Tree (bonus question: real or fake?) This year it was Dec 2. Never before Dec 1 though.
- Indoor Decorations - Same as the tree
- Put gifts under the tree - Whenever they are purchased and wrapped. I'll probably have wrapped gifts under there this weekend. I plan on finishing my Christmas shopping this weekend.

This weekend, because December 5th is my parent's anniversary- it's their tradition. We have a nice Christmas tree, LED lights outside, a wreath over the front door, and we usually put some spruce boughs above our garage for a festive look.

After Halloween. Which seems early but I love Christmas. I usually just put up lights and little decorative things around the house, and the Christmas Tree goes up at the end of November.

Outoor lights: Grey Cup weekend (after that weekends tend to get a bit cold for putting up the lights)
Christmas tree: probably this weekend (my wife wanted it up last weekend but I was able to have it delayed). Fake tree these days.
Indoor decorations: also this weekend.
Gifts under tree: Christmas Eve after everyone else is in bed (to prevent attempts at guessing what the presents are).

Set up your outdoor lights, decorations, etc
N/A - we're in a condo, and have never bothered to light up the balcony
Christmas Tree (bonus question: real or fake?)
Fake tree - goes up somewhere around Dec. 25th or 26th - stays up until Jan. 19th - we celebrate Ukrainian Christmas, not western Christmas
Indoor Decorations - all we do is put up the xmas cards we get in the mail - string them up by our windows
Put gifts under the tree - whenever we get them - it's just the two of us and so there's not much under the tree.
We buy 99% of our xmas tree decorations after Christmas when they go on sale for 50% off or so. Panache on 11th has some really neat decorations.

I'll decorate when i've got kids of my own and a house. Until then, I won't decorate. Unless I have a big party or something.

Come on... Give your kids more credit. Me and my sis used to open our presents verry carefully, play with them, and re wrap them. The key is to use a sharp knife and cut the tape. And to have a mother that doesn't get home from work until two hours after the kids get home from school.
