Police are investigating what they're calling a targeted attack.
On Saturday around 7:15 a.m., officers responded to a gunshot complaint in the 5300 block of Rundlehorn Drive NE.
When officers arrived on scene, they were directed to a suspicious device in a large parking lot located between two apartment complexes. The device, which appeared to be an improvised explosive device (IED), had been detonated.
Police evacuated the apartment complexes nearby while the Tactical Unit scoured the parking lot looking for more devices.
A second device was located that was also detonated.
Police are interviewing the occupants of the apartment suite where the devices were located as they believe it was not a random attack.

What do you have to do to a person to make them so mad at you, that they put bombs in your house? Are we in Calgary or Kandahar?

This was probably at Cody the Caught's house... In retaliation for his 'music'.

Wow, that's close to where I live. About 1-2 minute drive away.
Better be no one trying to blow up my house.

I heard that the losers from Westboro Baptist are on their way up to Rundle with their "Thank God for IEDs" signs...
God is punishing the Northeast for allowing gay people in their community.

Yeah. IEDs everywhere. You can't walk down a street without tripping over one.

Only CTV would play the "IED" card...even if it was one.
In fact, I made an IED with some mentos and a bottle of diet coke.

Pulease. I've been hearing this forever. I remember specifically when I was in high school in 1992 and somebody in my school fired a shotgun at a classmate's house. People were saying the same thing. I'm sure they were saying it in the 80s, 70s, 60s, etc. as well.

Actually... it seems like there are less problems this year than last year.
http://www.cbc.ca/calgary/features/homicide2009/ There are 20 this year. 33 last year. It will mighty hard to catch up seeing as we are almost at the end of the year.

Whatever happened to the gang war? Did they just chill out or did one side win?

Here is an article from October 30th 2009
Quote:
CALGARY - Calgary had the nation's highest metro rate for gang-related slayings last year--a contributing factor to the rise in the national homicide rate for 2008 -- a report from Statistics Canada has revealed.
But police and experts say 2008 was an anomaly that will not be repeated in 2009.
|
Quote:
Gang expert and author Michael Chettleburgh also said 2008 was an "anomalous year" and the same figures won't be seen in the 2009 report.
"I suspect we will see Calgary return to its rightful place as a safe big city," he said. "It can't continue its pace (as seen in 2008).The guys on the street will say 'time out.' "
