Bumped door
I rarely drive my car. Thus it is usually parked in the same place for weeks at a time.I just recently (last month or so) been parking my car in the same spot every time I do drive and come home.
This morning going to my car I noticed that my door had been bumped into a few times (appears to be around 10), and that they were all the same colour. I had been parking next to a car this colour. Essentially since I never move my car, and had been parking next to the same car for the last month it is a fact that all the marks have been from this car.
I already moved my car to a new spot, but I am pretty pissed off about this. One or tow bumps could be looked at as an accident, and a sorry note should accompany these.
10 or so in one month is just plain rude, ignorant, and careless.
I don't know what I should do about this. I don't know exactly where the guy lives, but it is in my building. I could ask my landlord which apt he is in.
I could leave a note on his car.
I could smash the **** out of his car and never say a thing again.

I'm assuming the damage is to the driver's side....
If the owner of the other car has a small child that is getting in to the passenger side of the offending car it is completely possible that you're the only one that knows about this. I'd keep that possibility in mind before going off in a rage and doing something you might regret.

Don't listen to the rational DFF. Go beat the crap outta his car! Or maybe talk to him about it. One of the two. It's a toss up really.

I guess I'll note that the damage is to the passenger side.

Could be the case, but still, only a complete ###### is unaware of their kid getting out of the car and hitting the car next to it. The person still deserves a punch in the gut.

Why don't you start by being rational about it? I know it is upsetting but maybe you will end up talking to a somebody who is reasonable?
It is up to you.

Yikes.
Hard to come up with an innocent scenario to account for that. You've got every right to be ticked off.

One hit with a hammer square in the middle of the driver's door of the offending car.

Just start parking about three inches from his drivers door so he can't get into his car from that side.

Maybe your doing something at your place, or it's some way your parking that's pissing him off and this is his way of getting back?
At any rate, take the high road, and find a new spot. It's too bad, sure it is. Nothing wrong with being mad.

Worse comes to worse... fill out a "hit and run" police report, or something to that effect, and note the vehicle that did it to you (since you know the plate numbers).
That'll be you some resolution. A little overkill but it'll get the job done.

If he's doing something that's pissing off that person, door denting is just the wrong way of getting even.
Find a new spot? Yea, I guess. But not before tracking down the a-hole and handing him a bill for the repairs to his door.
Yea, everyone knows that 4x4 is the resident rageaholic over all things car related... But this is just too much. Multiple dings to your door? From the same offender? I'd be spitting fire. There's no excuse for such a blatant disregard for other peoples' property.
Just thinking about someone doing that to my truck makes me daydream about baseball bats and windows.

Well moving my car wasn't that easy. I live in a building with assigned parking (why I could find out who owns the spot if needed). I just started using this spot because a neighbor who doesn't own a vehicle said I could use it. My roommate uses the stall assigned to our apt. I asked my roommate who is rarely home (and doesn't know about the bumps) if I could switch spots with her.
The damage didn't leave any dents, because it always hit a thin strip on my car. But there is tons of paint left on that I don't think will come off.
Baseball bat to his door/windows is what I'm thinking is in order, but I'm asking what most people would actually do if they were in my situation.

I would find out who this person is and then talk to them. Who knows maybe they will be reasonable. Honestly I doubt it. A reasonable person would not continually hit your car door. If they are not reasonabl then then file a police report. Get something on paper and official.
I am not picking on your specifically but why do most people start talking like they need to do something back to the person. Perhaps this guy is doing the same to you. Maybe he feels you are parking a little to close to him. So instead of talking to you about it he decided to ding your car a few times.
Anyway, like I said before. I am not trying to flame you. I am making a comment about the lack of communication in this world.

The paint will almost certainly come off if the contact wasn't enough to leave a dent. Haven't you ever watched infomercials? You can set a car on fire and that cream stuff will clean it right up!!
Seriously though, it will come off.
And nice underhanded trick you pulled on the roommate.

A surface cleaner doesnt remove dents. Personally I'd take all the cores out of their tire steams and force them to get their car towed. Or put dog crap on the underside of the door handles with a note saying "Thanks for being a fataing idiot".

Right, which would be an issue if not for the fact that he said that the bumps didn't leave any dents.

If it leaves paint theres gonna be a dent unless its on the molding. Regardless I'd still do something to them.
