i'm partial to that Brazilian place on McLeod called Bolero.
Not sure if that's the type of atmosphere you're looking for or not.

McDonalds - quick, cheap and not to upscale.
There was one restaurant that I use to go to all the time that I loved in Calgary but can't think of the name. For some reason Joey Tomatoes keeps popping up in my head even though that is not the one I am thinking of.

I'm in town at the moment, and Bookers is near the top of my list of restaurants I'm going to revisit. Its "refurbished warehouse" ambiance and southern-US menu keep it casual, but it's a really nice place with great food, and has a pretty relaxed, fun atmosphere. At least, as of when I was last there a couple of years ago.

Redwater is pretty decent. Not cheap, but not ridiculous either. It's high end steakhouse. On Macleod.
For something kind of funky and different you could try Alloy. It's a couple of blocks off Macleod near 42nd Ave or so. It's got a pretty cool 40's/50's lounge feel to it. Good food.

Jacquelinne Suzanne's bistro in Inglewood, dude. Beautiful laid-back atmosphere and the food and service is top notch.
And no, I don't work there.
Perfect place for a date. Ask for the table by the window when you reserve.

Took my fiancee to Japanese Village last week. It was our first time there. Food was very good; a little expensive ($20-35 per entree) but it was well worth it.
They sit you around the grill and the chef puts on a show as he prepares the food in front of you.
All told we paid $85 for the 2 of us with a couple of drinks and a couple of appitizers.

If you are into the type of food. Rajdoot is awesome. No need to dress up, and the kitchen always seems like it is staffed by a bunch of east indian grandmothers, so you are getting a pretty authentic experience. Can get a bit pricey, usually about $40-50 a head, but it is well worth it for the excellent service and food.

Bolero, while kind of fun, also is a heart attack waiting to happen. Meat, meat, meat, meat and meat. Thank goodness dessert is delicious grilled pineapple.

I'm taking the wife to Escabo Bistro tonight...
Been there once before and it was awesome.
A little pricy but IMO was worth it.

Farm is fun, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is quite cool. It's not really formal either.
I posted about it earlier after a nice meal there.

Try Fergus and Bics in Wentworth area, trust me on that. Great atmosphere, really good food and a cool bar all in one. If you can get in...
