Default When you get go coffee at Tim's

There's lots of things about goin to Tim's that can pitz me off ....lineups, 50/50 chance of wrong order, etc. I deal with it and move on. One thing that's really getting to me though is how EVERY counter person insists on smothering the lid with their "God only knows where it's been" hand, in order to ensure a snug fit. Many times they have just taken the previous customers money, then proceed to do this. Are they not aware that I now must bring that newly h1n1 infested lid up to my lips and suck it back? If you work there....stop doing that! Wash your bloody hands first, and then put a frickin paper towel or something over the lid before you smother it. Thanks ! Have a nice day

When I go, rare though, but when I do I get the xlarge triple/triple.
I hate it when they don't stir the coffee.

Mcdonalds has free coffee from November 16-29 I am sure the germs will be relative though. Cheap and dirty vs Free and dirty I guess...

Take the lid off and drink it, or ask them for an extra lid.... Easy fix. But yes I agree... They should wear gloves.

Why don't you just not go to Tim Horton's if this bothers you so much? One less person in line is fine by me.

Really? This is why people are dying from this dreaded Pig-Plague, our Uber-Hygienic society has left our immune systems fat and lazy.

Go eat some dirt!

You know what really grinds my gears? When they put the lid on and it lines up with the seam in the cup so the seam is right in the middle of the opening you drink from.

Given the number of customers they pump through those places during busy times, I can't see any way the workers would have time to wash their hands before applying a lid to each coffee served. I get what the OP is saying, but this is one of those cases where you just ignore that, drink it down, and hope for the best.

Or you buy one of their coffee tins and brew your own tim horton's coffee at home/work.

It is worse when it is right beside the mouth opening, then the lid leaks all over your shirt.

Either way I have one of these at my work:

I feel spoiled sometimes when I make cappuccinos or chai lattes.

In my experience, gloves make things worse.

People get a false sense of cleanliness and then proceed to wear the same pair of gloves for 6 hours straight.

Obviously it hasn't bothered me to the point where I won't go anymore. I like the coffee during my day. It's convenient. I really appreciate the tip though pal. You seem like a real helpful type!

Thanks alot, Buzzard. Now I'm going to notice how disgusting that is every time. But if it's any consolation, I read some info about H1N1 and one of the recommendations for killing the virus is to drink hot liquids. If the hotness doesn't kill it, your stomach acid will. So drink away. Just don't inhale it. It'll get you if it gets in your lungs.

lol Yeah I thought it might wreck someones coffee. In reality though, I know I'm likely not gonna die or probably even get sick from it, I just find it posses me off more than anything.... the lack of common sense and hygeine is kinda hard to deal with sometimes. I suppose that if you knew half of the crap you injested everyday from door handles, money, shopping carts etc you' never leave the house. I dig purell!

Buzzard, I seriously doubt you expect the workers to wash their hands in between EVERY customer...

There's the problem that you mentioned where the germs sorta get all over the lid, then the second problem being that if they don't put pressure on the lid or around the rim of the lid, it comes off, spills coffee/tea and burns you and you'd probably be even more furious than us pushing the lid down with our hands which are slightly dirty.

And this really is only a problem when you have one worker at each til, when you have 2, the other one will most likely just focus on making drinks... and all they do is make your coffee, and brew coffee.

This supports my currently unsupported notion that Tim Horton's is inherently evil.

That's too much to ask for a food server?? Yes I seriously do expect clean hands to serve me a food item. Do I expect it too happen? No. I would be happy if they had a disposable piece of paper towel or something they would place over the lid while securing a fit. That would make me happy

Like they use when they grab the donuts. No reason they can't do it for coffee lids.
