NHL 07 free agent pool

Has anyone looked at some of the free agents in NHL 07? Such as Stratton Whitaker, the chubby 16 year old sniper, and my personal favorite, Patrice Mongeau, the 46! year old defensive defenceman who looks like something from the Calgary East Village hockey league...

These "free agents" are the tools who work at EA Sports.

Yeah it's cool for the kid. But this isn't the first EA has added a bunch of the developers into the free agent pool.

Stratton Whitaker is one of the "Make a Wish" kids I think. I just end up putting the players like that on the European teams which I never play.

That's quite cool in my books. I wasn't making fun of him in my original post, I just thought it looked funny, having this 16 year old in the game. His potential is a 99, that's a nice touch given the back story.

Still, I may have to pick up the 46 year old caveman...he's only looking for 800K

So it turns out the kid has muscular distrophy..and apparently has passed away from his illness.


but oh dear...from another discussion board, I'm sure this wasn't quite what the developers intended...

"Yeah. So the Blue Jackets signed him earlier in the season, and they kicked my ass 6-2 last time I played them. This game was time for revenge. Whittaker, who looks like a fat baby on the game (hilarious, really) went snake**** in the first game, scoring two and adding an assist. This time, I was shutting him out. I started off the game with a 3-0 lead early, until the last seconds of the first when theya dded one, to make it 3-1. To start off the second, I fired another one in. The Blue Jackets, mainly David Vyborny, decided to make it a game. He scored two, followed by another Blue Jackets goal to head into the 3rd in a tie, 4-4. I wasn't having this. Especially not when the fat baby raped me in the first game. So Sykora, who just returned from an injury decided to show off his mad skills. He put me up 6-4 with 5 minutes left. Now the Jackets pull the goalie, and Whittaker turns it over to Stoll, who sends it up to Sykora for the Hat Trick. 7-4. Off the face off (Whittaker wins it, he always does) he passes back to Klesla who sends it back to him into my zone. I switch to big Matt Greene and hit Y to slash him. On 360, Y also initiates fights. So here I am forced with fighting the fat baby who has a terrible disease of some sort, making it that much worse. That didn't bother Matt Greene. Four Haymakers to the face, and a fifth one to knock him off his feet. I know it's terrible... but I laughed. Hard."

Its odd. In 08 there is this guy named Wells Greeno McNeil and probably more.

In 09 there was a 99 overall little girl, it ruined my Be a Pro because in my 2nd year she was the best goalie and I got mad that I was not.

Her name was Lahda. The Canucks picked her up in my dynasty league.

Any team with Sabrina Lahda is a force to be reckoned with, especially as the seasons go on. In NHL09, very few good goalies develop, and most teams are eventually starting 83 overall goalies and the best goalies rarely break 90, giving her teams a distinct advantage.

That might be coded into the game...she seems to be wearing a Canucks jersey in the picture, and they signed her in my game too....anyways, buy '10 everyone.

She signed with NYI in mine and I ended up playing them 5 or 6 times in a row for the cup. I don't think the game should do that kinda crap. Sure its cool if the kid is sick or something but don't make them king **** of turd mountain. Did they do any for NHL010? I didn't find any.

hehe im still playing 08 also. because i don't have a gaming system (xbox etc) so i play on the computer occasionally. EA didn't change much in the pc games between 06 and 09, i stopped getting them in 08. they don't make the NHL game for the PC anymore (EA i mean). i guess my next NHL game will be NHL 2k10 or 11, but ill stick with 08 for now.
if only EA had used next gen for the PC instead of just PS3 and XBOX, they might have had more sales and kept the game going, but instead they chose to ignore PC users.

Since this is a Free Agent thread:

in NHL 10, if you play dynasty, at the start of every season after the first season, you can sign made-up free agents.

There are 15 players in my free agency pool that are all unique, that were all drafted 3rd overall in 2009. Then there's one of the EA rookies (obsut, etc.) that is the real 2009 3rd overall. They are all 70-78 overall with potential.
