Default How to record streaming audio

I want to capture something from the AM77 audio vault and the audio is being steamed via Windows Media Player.

Is there a free software that someone knows of that can do this?

I have tried a few tonight and they don't work or I am not smart enough to get it to work.

Any help is appreciated.

Total Recorder should do that. It records anything that would come out your speakers.

free trail

or you can so it the ghetto way...plug a recording device in your headphone jack.

Thanks....I have one called "Free Sound Recorder"

However under the "Recording Mixer" drop down menu I dont have the option "Stereo Mix" which the tutorial says I need. Could this be my sound card?

Anyone know how to do this using a mac? I'm recording through Garageband but the sound quality isn't very good.

I think, but I'm not 100% sure, that Audio Hijack Pro would do this. Never tried it myself, but its a staple tool amongst podcasters, and from the description on their website, does exactly what we are talking about.

Wiretap will also do the job on the Mac. I've used it occasionally for this or similar purposes.

For windows there is an awesome free tool bar for your browser called freecoder I believe. It works so well and records the audio out on your comp I believe. I haven't found anything good for the mac so I usually just record stuff off of my parallels image.

I've used Audacity for years and love it . . . it works really well . . . and is free.

I use this program on my Mac as well but you need to also download Soundflower to get it to work. You can find that here . . . an older version can also be found on the Apple site.
