Default Predictably, another mass shooting...this time in Orlando

I have a sister there. Pretty sure she does NOT work in this building.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/11/06/...ngs/index.html

No confirmed fatalities. Hope that holds up.

I hope your sister wasn't affected at all. Is this a copy cat type of situation?

Gun violence is ridiculous in this country, as much as I plan to purchase a firearm for home protection. I wish they weren't as easily accessible as they are. Someone snaps? There's a good chance that A) They already own a gun or 2) They can get one for a couple hundred bucks.

good and bad news in this story

Quote:
A suspect has been apprehended in shootings at an Orlando office building, the city's mayor said Friday.
One person has died and five others wounded, the Police Chief Val Demings said.
Another official said the wounded victims are in stable condition

What is wrong with people now a days?

If you have a problem with your life just off yourself, don't take innocent people with you.

But you dont get three days of solid news coverage if you just off yourself. Get your 15 minutes of fame even though it came during the post game show of your life.

I'm actually surprised this isn't happening a lot more than it is. A gun culture like the one that exists in the US, along with layoffs and a bad economy, yikes.

The second amendment works just fine.

I wonder if the families of the 28 people who die per day in the USA due to gun violence (26 with handguns) still like this amendment? That's just homicides, who knows how many are maimed and injured.

Handguns need to be banned from the public...period.

The second ammendment doesn't have a thing to do with it.

There are handgun bans in place in some locales.

Well there aren't too many armed robberies in Arizona from what i've seen because if you're a would be robber, there's a really good chance someone else has a concealed weapon in the bank while you're in there. Plus you can basically blow someone's head off to protect yourself here, and citizens are able to make citizen's arrests. The gun freedom's here kind of self police.

The gun culture here is something to adjust to, that's for sure.

Handgun bans are great, but honestly whether you're in Canada, or the U.S.

If you decide you want a gun, and you're halfway intelligent you're going to get a gun.

Handgun bans aren't the end all and be all.

Yeah, this guy could've been completely sane, taken a course to own a gun, get the licenses and still done this.

Also this stuff does happen more here in the U.S. because there is such a huge population, and more social problems exist in my opinion.
