The cops must cringe when they hear of stories like this. Good on them for sure but was it worth risking their lives over?

I saw this on the news this morning. I'm just glad it all turned out ok for the old boys.
I'm sure the cops could lecture these guys about about how dangerous it was for them to take this creep down, But they'd probably do it again anyway. Good for them!!

That's a conversation I'd love to hear.
Cops: You know sir, that was mighty dangerous. You could have been hurt or killed.
Vets: You know what else was dangerous son? Killin' Nazis!

I'll bet that's exactly! , or at least very close, to how the conversation went.

No kidding! Those old vets have more courage than 99% of your domestic police officers today. WW2 vets in particular, have faced some of the worst violence, carnage and destruction in the history of mankind.
Cheers to the old vets for standing up for what is right...

I'm glad they didn't get hurt, but disappointed the low-life got away.

Not moralizing here, so don't jump down my throat.
1) I think it is time for the vets to decide on a better way of protecting the money and themselves.
2) The police could do a better damn job of patrolling these donation boxes. They get stolen every year and they could coordinate with the vets to know where they will be and to occasionally show up to "show the colours"
It would be better for everyone involved.
