Is it Pregaming or Predrinking?
Alright this is a pretty useless thread(but I'm sure it isn't the first), but I really need to get to the bottom of this. Growing up in Calgary, when you get your drink on before the bar, I and everyone I knew refered to it as "pregaming". Then 3 years ago I move to Edmonton for school, and everyone up here calls it "pre-drinking". How the hell do you "pre-drink" when you're already drinking?? And they think I'm the weird one by callin it pregaming. Dummy Deadmontonians...
Anyway, I'm just wondering if it really is a city thing, or were my H.S. buddies in Calgary the only people in the world that called it pregaming while the rest of the world has been pre-drinking it up before the bars? What do you guys/girls call it?

Generally pre-game is the term I prefer. Pre-drinking sounds stupid.

My first year of University the dorms were dry. So we talked about going to Muffin Store. Wow, we were dumb. Anyways I didn't really start drinking insane amounts of booze till I was north of Red Deer. But I've heard both pre-game and pre-drinking or "we're going to pre-drink" at So and Sos house.

I hear pregaming more, but I definitly hear pre-drinking quite a bit, too. Hmmm, I'm going to pay more attention to what people say now.

I've heard both and probably said both, probably on the same night too. Come to think of it, I'm not really sure which I usually use and have never though about it before. Now I'm going to be self-conscious about it later tonight, thanks....

Out in Ontario we called it Pre-Drinking, i.e. you drink at home before spending a lot of money drinking at the bars.

Yeah, I've never called it pre-gaming.
When I needed a verb I called it pre-drinking.
I have however had several pre-game drinks.

When I lived in Calgary we always called it pre-drinking. In London, it's called lunch...

Wow I thought pre-gaming was just said in my group of friends. Were all hockey guys so I figured thats where it came from. I think we started it and it caught on like wild fire.
But i've said both. Doesn't really matter imo.
