Default Mayo vs Miracle Whip

I love mayo (although its gotta be the regular stuff... the low fat kind just doesn't taste as good).
Hate miracle whip... what exactly is Miracle Whip?... Some chemistry lab creation like processed cheese?

I prefer mayo generally. But in my tuna, I add mayo and a little bit of miracle whip and it makes all the difference. Just a little added bit of tangy. But mayo in a sandwich all the way for me.

Can't stand miracle whip. It has this weird sweetness to it that just shouldn't be in sandwiches.

My favorite sandwich spread is to mix a bit of mayo with seafood sauce. The horseradish and other flavours of seafood sauce are a really nice subtle kick.

Dipping fries in anything other than Ketchup/Vinegar/Gravy =

Mayo FTW always.....Miracle Whip is unnatural and tastes like they added a tablespoon of sugar or something to it.

Mayo is the worst!!

It adds no flavour and is just a pile of goop. Have any of you seen this stuff made:

Take a whole wack of Oil (think buckets), add one egg, blend

YUCK

Miracle Whip just as gross. Take above recipe, add raw sugar = Miracle Whip.

Mayo by a mile. Miracle Whip actually ruins sandwiches for me. Why is it so sweet? I'm sweet enough, thanks.

I like both, but Miracle Whip is my preference.

Two pieces of bread, leftover turkey white meat, both sides of the bread spread with Miracle Whip, fresh ground pepper = heavan.

This is honestly like asking Ketchup or Mustard because the two aren't the same at all in flavor

Have you seen mayonaise being made? From your description, I doubt it. I think you left a few ingredients out of your mayo recipe.

If your mayo adds no flavour then you're using the wrong kind of mayo.

BTW, Kraft mayo isn't good mayo.

Some miracle whip has horseradish in it. I hate the stuff. Never have it in my house.

I find there is not enough difference in taste or texture between regular mayo and light mayo, providing you buy a good brand. Mayo is one product I never buy the in house brand. I used to swear by Kraft, but when they switched to those square plastic jars, they did something to their mayo as well. Now it is no longer creamy, some sort of goop that does not even whisk together properly with other stuff to make nice sauces or salad dressings. Now I swear by Hellman's and buy the light.

Ingredients in real mayonnaise:

Oil, egg yolks, salt, vinegar or lemon juice. Spices to taste eg: mustard, garlic.

Ingredients in store-bought mayonnaise:

Soybean oil, water, whole eggs and egg yolks, vinegar, salt, sugar, lemon juice, natural flavours, calcium disodium

In "light" mayonnaise:

Water, soybean oil, vinegar, modified corn starch, whole eggs and egg yolks, sugar, salt, xanthan gum, lemon and lime peel, sorbic acid, calcium disodium, lemon juice concentrate, phosphoric acid, DL alpha tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), natural flavours, beta carotene.

In Miracle Whip:

Water, soybean oil, high fructose corn syrup, sugar, modified corn starch, eggs, salt, mustard flour, artificial colour, potassium sorbate, paprika, spice, natural flavour, dried garlic.

Also, I absolutely hate the Miracle Whip marketing campaign. Yeah, all the cute indie-rock chicks I know swear by Miracle Whip... It's one of the more patronizing campaigns I can remember. The "we will not tone it down" is like a far less successful version of the Buckley's "tastes awful, but it works" campaign. Except the difference is that one of the things about sandwich spreads is that they're supposed to taste good; actually, that's the only thing about sandwich spreads. It's great for them that they aren't changing their recipe for nobody, but it doesn't change the fact that it still tastes like crap, and having indie-rock girls and vaguely punkish music isn't going to change that.

Dipping fries in Miracle whip or even Mayo? Ugh...

The only things I like to dip my fries in are ketchup, gravy, or tzatziki sauce (gotta love the fries at Opa!)
