$43 for a $4 coin? No thanks.

I know it's supposed to be a collectors item, but come on.

I thought at first this was going to be about casual currency... like a Quadroonie!! Haha, $43? Pass.

That coin is pretty cool. Can't say I am willing to pay 1100% face value for it though.

I'd rather have this:

http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/50cent...tion=crossSell

People have to realize that the price =/= monetary face value as legal tender. Sure they work as legal tender but these are never meant to be spent and are basically jewelry/junk to put on your shelf.

Why does the government even fund this stuff? Is the Mint that cash-strapped that they need these extra sources of revenue? They are cool but if not regular circulation coins (remembrance day one with the colored poppy for instance), it's lame to have these sold by the actual Canada Mint and not by some commercial company.
