Blues/Wings hook it up

In what was a pretty easy deal, the Blues and Wings hooked up in a 4 player deal. Going to Detroit are Scott Gomez and Jordan Leopold. Coming back to the Blues are Alex Frolov and Andy Ference.

Pretty straight forward deal. I wanted to move Jokinen back to center and to do that I needed to move Gomez. Frolov is younger and better offensively and defensivly. Sure he's out of favor in L.A, but we have confidence that he'll stay in the NHL and be moved out to a different team. The Ference/Leopold deal was basically swapping an offensive minded D for a defensive minded D. FAndy will replace Leo on the 3rd pairing.

Frolov will never get to play a game for Detroit. The biggest need I had was to get a #1 center. Someone that can win a face off and can pass the puck.

Ferance and Leo was a fairly even swap. From my perspective Andy and his team worst -7 needed to go.

This is a bit of a risky move by Spike after Frolov's performance so far. Hopefully he does stay in the NHL, otherwise this deal leans in favour of the Wings.

Frolov has racked up a ton of air miles this season between the off-season to the regular season he has been on 7 teams

San Jose -> Colorado -> Minnesota -> Toronto -> Pittsburgh -> Detroit -> St. Louis
