Default LF help or suggestions for projector TV.

I am doing my basement this week and need a few questions answered...

1- what do I do if they are drywalling the ceiling and I don't have speakers yet? Do I run the wires up there and cap them somehow???

2- How far should the projector ( and plug in be from the wall )

3- What cords need to be run to the ceiling where the projector will be??

Am I missing anything else...

Thanks for your help!! UGH

I have no answers for you, but I'm just as interested, as I'm wanting to put a theater in the basement of my house too. Wouldn't mind compairing notes when you're done...

run the speaker wires anyways, no need to cap anything off

to the projector you will want an hdmi cable (or component if your hardware isn't hdmi). and a power receptacle should be near the projector obviously

my proctor is 18' from the screen and my screen is 10' wide and 7' high. depends how big you want it

I have a Panasonic PT-AX 200 mounted on the ceiling about 10 feet from my 100" screen. You can calculate the distance from this website. http://www.projectorcentral.com/

I ran a 30' HDMI cable, and component cable in the ceiling. I also ran all my speaker wires before putting up the dry wall. I also ran 2 subwoofer cables in the walls at either end of my home theater. I am putting a drop down ceiling for easy access to all my cables.
I am 90% done, I should send you some pics.

I'd love to see them too. Interested in doing something like this one day when I'm in a new house.

1/3)If you don't have to drywall the ceiling don't, a drop ceiling will work a lot easier. Frees you up to run cable and speakers etc down the road. If you have to go with drywall now make sure you have power for the projector and or speakers as well as the audio and video connections already run. Get them run into junction boxes for easy access. If you can do the speakers while the drywall goes in that's a bonus.

2) I am assuming you are asking about the throw of the projector here. Distance will depend on the size of the screen and the type of projector you are installing. You need to find the ideal distance between size of picture and light output of your projector. If you are too close to the screen you end up with a smaller picture unless you are able to go with a wide angle zoom lens.

Lots to think about when setting up a projection room. Done two here at work in the last two years. One big and one small. Both will have there challenges.

Just used a new Panasonic (can't remember the model number though) to screen some A-Team this afternoon and I was very impressed with it. It runs around $3500. But it looks really sharp...

Here is a good website to help you choose projectors...Just pick whatever model you have or are thinking of and plug in the numbers to see if it will work for your space.

I ran my wires from the projector down the hall and under the stairs where I have access to the panel. First time posting pics, so I hope it worked.
