Default DVD Recorder

I'm a little behind the times but I wanted to get a DVD recorder that is simple to use and will work with the Telus TV hookup (regular type, no HD, no Satellite). I don't need anything fancy and would prefer something in that "idiot proof" type of category.

Basically looking for something where I can set it to record and then I can have it playback on a DVD to either watch in the player or play on my computer (and possibly edit with a program to get clips to later post on YouTube)

Any suggestions for a moderately priced unit that can do this? I know I've seen this at Futureshop http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...46&catid=22226 but I wasn't sure if it could do what I wanted it to and the people at the store I go to seem to be a little touched in the head when you try to ask questions.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'vev been using DVD recorders since the turn of the century. Mine have been Panasonic, but it pretty much works like a VCR. Added advantage is if you are recording a show from 9:00-10:00 and you come home at 9:15, you can start the show from the begining and catch up to live TV.

Having said that, I rarely use mine since getting PVRs. I'd call Telus and tell them you are cancelling because Shaw is offerring you a free HDPVR. I'm sure Telus will send one out to you the next day.

Since I moved back into the city and can use my Shaw PVR again, I only ever use my DVD recorder to easily transfer shows from my PVR to Disc/Computer.

That said, it really was useful when I used it all the time.
