The first week of the pre-season has come and gone with the Panthers playing in four contests sporting a 2-1-0-1 record.
The pre-season started off with a bang with back to back shut-outs, followed by a 3-2 shootout loss to Atlanta and a 5-2 loss to Tampa.
The player of the week goes to goaltender Vesa Toskala.
Posting back to back shutouts in his first two games, Vesa has a 2-0-1 record this week with a tiny 0.649 GAA, and .947 save percentage.
Runners up for Player of the week were Center Rod Brind'amour and Defenseman Brian Rafalski. Brind'Amour scored twice and has two assists, but has been a force in the faceoff circle winning 61% of his 92 draws. Rafalski has five assists in the four games and has been averaging 24 minutes a night.
The powerplay thus far has been okay, scoring 4 times in 23 attempts, and the PK has been good allowing only 3 goals in 23 attempts.

The third week has come and gone. The preseason concluded, and the first two games of the season were played.
The Panthers dropped the final preseason game in a shootout to Washington, opened the season with a 5-2 win over the Rangers before losing the last game in the last minute against Phoenix 2-1.
The player of the week for this week is Goaltender Vesa Toskala. He went 1-1-1, but had a 1.62 GAA and .913 Sv%.
The runners up were Mike Knuble and Rod Brind'Amour. Knuble didn't register a point, but had 15 shots in the 3 games this week. Brind'Amour scored twice and was a +1.
This week, the Panthers host the Devils, before going to Atlanta, then to New Jersey, before returning to play the Ducks.

Week 4 has concluded with the Panthers finishing with a record of 3-1-0
The Panthers beat New Jersey twice and the Ducks while losing to Atlanta in a rather high scoring affair.
The player of the week this week is Rookie Roman Polak. With a goal and 4 assists and a plus two, he's been off to a great start and leads all rookies in the league in points thus far.
Runners up this week were Jeff Halpern and Brian Rafalski. Halpern had 3 goals, and Rafalski had a goal and 5 assists.
Some oddities have crept up in the stats department. All players except Shaone Morrisonn, Ryan Johnson, and Stephane Yelle have scored at least 1 goal. Every regular has at least one point. The Panthers are near the top or are in first in of the league in shots for, fewest shots against, power play efficiency, fewest PIM per game.
Up this week is a 3 game road trip to Pittsburgh, Washington, and Anaheim before returning home to play the Oilers.

There are a lot of teams performing quite well that on paper shouldn't be doing as well as originally thought. FLA, CBJ and VAN are three teams that come to mind that have a lot of SIM Chemistry so far.
