The lock on the mail box in my condo rental is broken and apparently the condo board doesn't fix it. So before calling out to places wondering if anyone on cp is a locksmith and would like some work. If not if anybody has any good recommendations that would be appreciated as well.

Dewalt drill with a 1/4 bit should do the trick.

It's not that I can't get into it its that it won't lock and tenants mail seems to go missing.

Doesn't Canada Post fix their own mail boxes?

If not, call Aboe.

Canada post only fixes mail box's located on the st. Those are gov property so don't deface or destroy them. How ever anything located inside is personal property and you can do what ever you want to them and no one can say anything except the person who "owns" the box. It's very stupid.

So the condo isn't responsible for their mailboxes....Hhmm never knew that. Just bolt a large and ugly looking rural-type mail box to the wall and use a pad-lock to keep it closed, make sure that there's your address on it, a slot it in to get your letters and parcel notices. Then just wait to be contacted by the board about getting your regular mailbox fixed by them.

I was thinking that I am going to paint my box with a big flaming c on it. So the mail man knows I am a flames fan and makes my box look badass. Just cost me 78 bucks to switch out an 11 dollar lock that was a defect from when the cardel homes built it.

I used aboe friendly guy right on time apologized that he had to charge me service fee for coming out for 5 mins. Would recommend them if anyone needs any locksmithing

Yeah, Aboe's the only place I've been able to find in town that can cut keys that actually work.

Since you have access to the box, look at the back of the lock. If there's a threaded ring on it, take it off, and pull out the lock. Go to RONA and buy a new one.

Ya I figured that out after the locksmith came. Where were you 48 hours ago 4x4 would have saved me 50 bucks
