Default Bell TV 9242 on sale

this is the hard to find discontinued 9242 dual tuner receiver. It is better than the current dual tuner 9241 as it has two TV capability with PIP and also has an OTA tuner which the 9241 doesn't. It's online only at The Source for $449.99 for current customers and $249.99 with credits for new customers.

So, of the rest of you Bell subscribers, I have to ask what you would do.

My 6100 for the bedroom HDTV pretty much died. So I'm looking at the following choices:
- buy a 9242 for $450
- Buy a 9241 for $420 (Bestbuy has it on sale.)
- Buy a 6131 for $150.

Cash is a little tight right now, so even if I get the 6131 and I add a HDD to make it a PVR, I'm still only looking at $250. But I will likely never have a chance to buy another 9242 again.

Also, by getting a 9242 that gives me the ability to have 2 different feeds going into other rooms of the house (or more likely the garage); which means if I out in the garage working on a project (read: drinking beer) and my finacee decides that NFL Countdown is boring and changes it to some chick flick, I could change the remote out there to the other receiver's code and go back to my sports.

So- what would you guys do in my shoes?

I'd get the 9242, no debate, it has less problems than the 9241 with more options.

I've also got a 6131 with an external HD also and it's been decent. When I bought it I went to retentions and got a $100 credit to buy it and another $20 off because they couldn't deliver it to me. It appears I'm out of their service area and bought it from
Best Buy for $150 so it only cost $30 plus tax. Perhaps you could get a similar deal.

Another option is Bell will give you a refurbished replacement 6100 for a price. Not sure of the cost but a refurbished replacement 9242 is $150.

Damn you and your Vulcan logic!

Just bought a 9242; seeing as it is the last day.

I hope you enjoy it Ken. I already have one (paid $600 for mine) and two other HD boxes so I couldn't justify another one for myself but I really like this PVR.

Yeah, I guess I should have mentioned that I already have a 9242- so I know I will like this beter than getting a 6131. I just don't hink I'll get 2-3X the value for my money.

The main reason I grabbed it was it is my last chance to buy one of these.
