Chicken Wing Contest For United Way

Hey Guys and Gals,

I'm taking part in a chicken wing eating contest tonight in Airdrie to support the United Way.

This kinda snuck up on me, and I'm a little behind the 8-ball with sponsors.

A minimum $25 donation gets you a tax reciept.

Well, how many wings are you gonna eat?

Honostly, I don't know... It's a 2 minute heat. I would imagine around 15-20... I'm not a pro.

Do you have a choice of what kind of wing to eat?

Make sure you choose a wing with some sauce. Stay away from Lemon pepper type wings that just have seasoning on them. Your mouth will dry out too fast and you may have to stop to drink.

You may want to be careful with BBQ/honey garlic/teriyaki wings too. If they've been sitting out for a while the sauce may have congealed and become clumpy, which can make for a mighty unappetizing wing.

Don't go too spicy (suicide/inferno spice), you don't want to rape your mouth and have to stop to drink. If you enjoy spice though a hot wing or mild wing is probably your best bet. One with a nice light layer of yummy hot sauce.

I'm not really looking to win the contest to tell you the truth. A night on the can isn't what I call a good time. I'd rather be on the couch watching the game than feeling like I have a huge belly full of bird.

But I'll try to be compeditive.

Well, I finished second in my heat... downed 15 wings, which I am impressed I managed to get down. They were a milder Buffalo style wing.
