I'm pretty lucky. My neighbour had a tree that was gowing over my property and he trimmed it back himself. Not too worried about leaves, I'll just end up mulching them with the lawnmower if they're still there in spring.

Really thats the way it should be. It doesn't take much to trim it back. I have gone for runs and been literally whipped in the face by tree branches that have grown out of peoples yards. When it is cold and dark it almost makes you want to trim it back youself

That's the trees telling you that they don't like you.

Our neighbor complains incessantly about our trees. Either they're too big or last year he demanded that we pay to have the leaves cleaned out of his yard.
He is a bit of an unreasonable dick, so we dont talk to him much anymore.
I figure, raking leaves is just something that has to be done if you want to have trees. Now personally, I think trees really add to the neighborhood and am against people who think they should all be cut down simply because they require some additional home maintenance.
I rake the leaves in my yard, or I find some ######ed children to do it for me. Last year the kids down the street offered to do it for 5 bucks each, but I dont think they'll fall for that again.
We also have the trees maintained by Arborcare routinely.

This may not have been the right course of action, but our neighbors tree overhangs our back yard (not a lot), so I trimmed back the offending sections.

Make sure that you trim excessive growth, especially around the bulbous root area.
