Default Anti Seal Group Proposes Boycott on Canadian Seafood...

Edit: Anti Sealing Group. Sorry.

Quote:
Canada's fishing industry may be more vulnerable than Ottawa realizes to the animal-rights movement's latest bid to end the sealing industry, an analyst says.
An anti-sealing group, not satisfied with its successful campaign for a ban on seal products being imported into Europe, on Friday announced a new plan to urge European restaurants to boycott all Canadian seafood.
http://www.calgaryherald.com/Anti+se...249/story.html

This is getting ridiculous. Do these people understand that the seal quell is an important part of keeping the Cod alive in Atlantic Canada. This is truly a no win situation for Canada. Stop killing seals, cod will disappear. Quell the seal, and nobody will buy our cod.

What about the cod? Won't somebody please think of the cod?

I really want to try some seal meat. Maybe we can call the seal hunt a farming operation.

It's all about being empathetic to the animals. You have to ask yourself, "what if cod was one of us?"

So, basically, if the world stops buying our food, the world will starve sooner, while we will have more food for us.

Win win, really.

All this because baby seals are cuter than cod. If their appearances were reversed, nobody would complain

If this happens then Canada should respond by cutting off european exports until they reform their horrid furring and food practices including their love of veal.

I also think that we need to approve the first annual Canadian radical animal activist and PETA hunt, that herd is getting to large.

Pamela Anderson was filming a bear cruelty advertisment. She ended it with the line "Life without bears would be truly unbearable" She was promptly clubbed to death and skinned.

Looks pretty humane to me. A good blow to the head.

Way better than having your guts slowly torn apart by, or even worse, dieing slowly in the stomach of, a seal. That one little seal there is responsible for murdering thousands of cod.

Edit: Just in case anyone needs a visual

Yea, here we go again. It's inhumane because of the grotesque look of a dead animal in a pool of blood. I agree with shaolin; a good blow to the head is a pretty quick and humane way to die. It's no worse than flattening a mosquito on your arm, except when you KO a seal, you're harvesting food plus ensuring the survival of another species (that also happens to be delicious).

If the animal lovers want to protest something, why aren't they all over the fishermen that reverse drown fish?

I had a friend who now works for PETA in their DC lobbying office, note the word 'had'. She was always a little bit annoying, now she's bat crazy. It is kind of impressive how well she can spout off baseless talking points when confronted on anything though.

Howso? Do you have some sort of insight the rest of us don't? Please enlighten us!

I have watched 4 documentaries on the issue (2 from each side) and read a few publications (mainly newsmags). The pro seal hunt ones made a whole lot of sense to me.

Bullfighting isn't the most humane Euro sport either.
